Default Mind blowing graphics powered by today's GPUs

A new Unreal Engine 3 demo is featuring some incredibly realistic graphics powered by current gen GPU's. Specifically 3 AMD 6970's in crossfire oh wait... 3, GTX580's in SLI.

All of these images are being rendered in realtime.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The future of gaming is looking bright indeed Or in this case dark and dreary but still.

But then there is Minecraft. Games aren't all graphics and never will be.

Stick with your motherboard's integrated graphics then as that's all you'll need.

Last I checked Minecraft didn't have an emotionally engaging narrative with no plot or purpose other than click a square to do something to the square to build something with the square to look at the square. Big woopin' deal. That is not the future of gaming.

    Graphics whore.

Seriously though, you were beaten by Strelok.

Looks amazing though, what I'd hope is for a game to look stunning without sacrificing on gameplay, narrative, etc.

It's not like it can't be done. Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, etc etc.

That's what excites me the most as those game developers have great narratives, pair that with graphics such as this and....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iiry...eature=related

Strelok posted that in the wrong forum so I wouldn't have looked there He put that in "other games"? lol it's a game engine demo not a "Non-total war game".

Yes, COD has a very engaging story. I also rode a unicorn to school today and flew home on a flying carpet made of children's tears.

Aren't CoD games still made using the Quake 3 engine?

Lol, it's hardly cutting edge graphics wise.

Damn man, I really wanted to get one of those flying carpets, but they're never in stock. Where did you get yours?

Good stuff and given the popularity of Epic's Unreal engines there could be a lot more DX11 coming our way (Mass Effect in rendered in glorious DX11 is a possibility) but it's going to be up to the publishers whether developers will have the time make use of all these effects for the PC version of any cross platform title. For example Assassins Creed was a DX10 title but its sequel when it was eventually ported to the PC was only DX9 when in actually fact the game was built on a DX10 engine but the developers either choose not to or were under time pressures so that feature wasn't present in the final release.

It also remains to be seen what the final actual gameplay results are going to look like, it's all very well rendering an image in real time and publishing a photo on the internet I seem to remember Crysis 1 got people hyped but the end result wasn't quite as impressive.

Anyway this year looks like a good year for PC games and graphic whores, you have The Witcher 2, Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 the new Dirt game and F1 2011 and now this.

Well given that the Unreal real engine is pretty much the engine of choice for a lot of developers due as its the easiest of the shelf solution to work with on the market it should in theory being lots more DX11 titles to the PC.

Don't forget Rage, and it's bringing idTech 5 with it.

There is no gameplay, it's not a game. But it is rendered in real time.

This may push me over the line and force me to buy a GTX 2xx series card, and finally scrap these 9500's.

At least get a GTX460 with DX11. The GTX200 series is DX10 and no longer available in any major retailer that I know of.

What's this? You have an extra $100 you'll send me? Anyways, I think my cards are DX9, so it'll still be an upgrade.

GTX580's man, not GTX480's. As you can see here even though the GTX580 is the most powerful single GPU on the market it runs cooler than the 6950, 6970, and even 6850! Your shooting yourself in the foot bringing up how your precious AMD cards run warmer.

Nvidia has no morals as a corporation. It's sickening.
