    Default Deserted?

About turn 60 of my kievan rus campaign and I have cancelled my alliance with novgorod and lithuania has become my vassal. I created two stacks, main army and reinforcements and sent them north to pskov to attack. Next turn my general who was leading the army, my second best commander with 6 stars, disappears of the face of the campaign map...

I look in the family tree to see what has happened. His picture is black and simply says deserted.

    Any explanations?

He wasnt high enough loyalty, and decided to strike out for himeself.
he deserted your faction, and now is a rebel.
    There is only one recourse.
you must annilate him and all his men, to the last drop of blood.
Take his corpse and dress it in womens clothes, drag it to church with you.
make out with it in the confessional and then very publically "dump" it at dinner by splashing it with goats milk, curdled with rotting lemons and mixed with pig's blood.
Only then will he finally be shamed enough to depart this realm for the next.

I've played Med 2 for 3 years and have never had this happen.

Which? The desertion or the dumping the corpse after the confessional makeout session?

Only seen it happen once myself with a FM, a couple of times with small, captain-led stacks. It doesn't help if the army/es in question are in enemy territory.

What was your generals loyalty and what was your faction leaders authority?

Authority of faction leader was 10
Generals loyalty was 4, usually not a problem in my campaigns.

I have had characters bribed by other diplomats more than them just turning rebel, also if youve got BGR ticked you gotta be careful.

Deserting is fairly commom if you have a low authoritty leader.About the necro that was also pretty common acrording to Townsaver.

Fun thing, I never had enemy diplomats or princesses actually try to bribe/seduce my commander on lusted AI and Hard campaign settings. Does it happen at all?

(or better, they never managed, so I may have missed them trying?)

They try all the time - when you see agents making the 'initiate contact' action, but no diplomacy screen comes up, that's a bribe/seduce attempt.

Since I started playing the game I thought your cities/agents couldn't be bribed, but with 6.3 I have witnessed the Hungarians bribe Sofia out of my (Roman) hands, and diplomats selling out.

I had a failed foreign princess attempt on a FM in which he stole her away (had it happen to me many times). Message said she would be joining my faction "soon" but she never showed up. Anybody else have that happen?
