Proper Bodyguards

Can someone tell me how to give Hero units REAL bodyguards? It doesn't make sense for Aragorn to have Grey Company! I mean he was a Ranger, but he doesn't have bow! I never let my archers use melee except for Elves! Why doesn't Aragorn have like a special melee dunedain unit. I want to actually use Aragorn to kill orcs! Not to just stand there! And Legolas! He's the same with those Sindar Archers! He should be alone or fighting with a super elite Mirkwood Company! It just doesn't make sense! I'm pretty sure that generals can't use ranged weapons, but it would be more lore and gameplay friendly with melee bodyguards or at least an ability to switch weapons from bows to blades or stuff. I don't know, I'm not a modder, but someone tell me how to do this! I don't want to use my generals as guys who just kind of stand there, and rarely stop guys from routing.

If you want to use them in melee just hold ALT and click to attack. If you want them to have different bodyguard units then just change it, do a search to find out how. It is really easy to swap units.

Change 'Grey Company' to whatever you want it to be. Notice Gandalf has Mounted Dunedain BG. THEN delete your map.rwm file in the BASE folder. It is not save game compatible, though your saved game should still load up and work as before.

I don't know man, i think they did the bodyguards fairly well. I can see your point with the grey company because the unit is lacking compared to other general's bodyguard. But the sindar archers are frickin insane, they can pretty much drop anything before they even get close and if for some reason the enemy does get through the volleys they shred them in hand to hand.

I've changed Aragorn's age to make him younger and Gandalf's bodyguards to Grey Company and now I can't start a new campaign. I just get taken back to the starting screen everytime I try. And I just tried deleting map.rwm and that doesn't help. Any suggestions?

If you want, you can download my aragorn as king of gondor mod. i've been to upload the latest one, and its only compatible with MOS 5. 1

Try deleting Map_rvm and start a new campaing this may work also i am too for lowering the age of the great hero Aragorn he dies before i conquer whole middle earth
