Fresh steam download-failure to launch

Greetings all,

I just downloaded the Imperial Edition from Steam. Download went fine. Icon is on desktop but any attemt to start the game from the icon or steam get me as far as the "preparing to launch" message and then nothing. I suppose the cause is minor but am at a loss. Below is my dxdiag. I have no problem running MTW from steam or any of my other games.

In addition, will this fresh download have the most current patch and will all of the extra units be there or must I take another step to release them.

Lastly. It there any problem adding a modded game to a game downloaded from steam?

could be part of it as your current resolution is listed higher than your monitor's listed max.
You need to try to upgrade its drivers.
Try it with your monitor resolution set at 1024 x 768.

I don't think that is the problem. My monitor is my newest piece of equipment (Hannspree) 33 inch and it is working fine with everthing else. I did manually lower the monitor setting in windows to your recommendation but aside from making everything else funky looking, it did not solve the problem. Everything else in steam works but now NTW.

Hmmmm...48 hours and no reply to my ticket from steam.. Not creating a warm and fuzzy. I may just have to call my credit card company to see if I can't void the purchase and then try the boxed version.

Delete the clientregistry.blob in the Steam folder and see if that helps.

What is the exact path for me to find the clentregistry.blob? I am not too good at this stuff...

I did just submit a ticket to Sega. Thought I did it before but there was no record of it.

I am sort of used to XP but I know its days are numbered.

Do you have a users folder? Have you unhid all files and folders in Folder Options?

Just a follow up to let you know that the problem is solved and to say thanks.

I did get customer support from both Steam and Sega but I will say that it is painfully slow. However, the fellow from Sega finally helped me correct the problem.

First they had me upgrade all of my drivers. I am lazy when it comes to that. So I upgraded my motherboard (old), video card, and soundcard. All were out of date but the new drivers did not fix the problem.

Night before last the fellow from Sega came back to me and had me update a lot of my system software. He had me check windows XP for service pack 3, Java, direct X, C++, and netframe. He was also nice enough to send me the links which are below. This corrected the problem. I suspect it was either related to Direct X or C++ as both of these were out of date.

So if you have an older machine. Update your drivers, and then update the following if you have not.

In the end, it was probably worth the price of the game to get my computer totally updated...:-)
