Now these new screens. Congratulations to the team. I dont mean just for screens, for the whole mod. A lot of work went into this one. Better to say, lots of good ideas realised. And polishing is ongoing. Love the books, love the movies, love the mod.![]()
Woah great!!!
Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

Some screens from WIP Helm's Deep by Krnell:
Helm's Deep morning/night
I'm going to go cry in a corner now. Too much epicness
A little thing though; shouldn't the Hornburg be downscaled a bit? It's still rather huge like this.
Oh, no. Now that I see both next to each other it's indeed not as large in comparison as it seems.
Must've played too much Battle for Middle-Earth, then
P.S, is that first picture from the movie? Cause it's really obvious that it is a scale model![]()
I think the proportions of the model are pretty similar to the movies. Maybe the scale compared to a human is not exactly the same than the movies, but Seth designed it for RTW scale. The length of the gateway in RTW is hardcoded, as well as the section of the walls. There is also a minimum formation width for the units, so a more narrow ramp could probably not work. It is also designed to allow battles inside the fortress, and the more narrow, the more issues will appear with AI and pathfindings.
Btw, if the standard wall was higher, then the fortress would not look as big. We are using the small stone wall to allow the use of scales to assault it. But it would look much better with Epic walls.
We are really lucky to have Seth in the team because he does not only make models, he edit all the files needed to make them work into RTW (probably the hardest modding task I have seen), and he designs the models to be playable.

Compared to the movie, only the length of the deeping wall is much bigger in the mod. But this is necessary to allow movement behind the walls.
No matter what people say about Helm's Deep or the Hornburg, it's just to awesome to be true!!!!
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please don't let us wait to long.

in fact wall height should be increased a bit but it would cause problem with ladders and siege towers...

No, the walls are at the right height. Hornburg's deeping wall wasn't that high in the film. The Hornburg in the game itself is on higher ground than it was in the film, just so we could keep the proportions similar to the film, since the gate and passage to the gate in the mod is also wider than in the film.
Looking good so far! Screens's a bit far away, though...
