Carthage because they are in a different field of combat yet still fighting over important locations, secondly coz of the bugger they are to design so someone has to use them!

Etruscans! Why you ask? Well how about this? Axemen, Chariots, Hoplites, Swordsmen, Archers, Cavalry ...........
Etruscans too...![]()
I need to try something different than those child-burner Carthagineans, or stinking Thracians or Illyrians. Already done that on RTR.

Playing as Persian? Definitively no (No offense).
We are talking about a great sacrifice, so we should respect them even more and their great love to their gods.Originally Posted by k_raso

Its only a theory that Carthage did child sacrifices. A lot of people and professors disagree on this theory. As for my answer its on the part 1 sction.

I agree. Since most of the sources for the theory of Child sacrifices (Moloch) come from latin and greek authors, like Diodorus Siculus, Plutarch and Cleitarchus. But a more throrough study states that that theory comes not only from latin and greek chronists, but also from hebrew sources as well, incluiding the Bible and the 12th century rabbi Rashid.Originally Posted by deadcell87
It repeats in some passages of the Bible the phrase
"no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire lmlk" (lmlk= there is a discussion that lmkl means either a god named Moloch or just a particular mode of sacrifice) Jeremiah 32.35
"And you shall not let any of your seed pass through lmlk, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am Yahweh." Leviticus 18.21
More recently, Otto Eissfeldt found inscriptions with the name "mlk", and he concluded that it doesn`t mean the name of a god, but only a form of sacrifice, one that incluides human sacrifices. A relief was found showing a priest holding a child...
He also found a grave dedicated to Tanit with thousands of burned carcases belonging to animals, and also many belonging to children from 0, mostly newborns, to some of 6 years of age.
But I agree with you that the theory of Sabatino Moscati is strong, but it`s arguments doesn`t convince me.Of all it`s arguments, the one that I find stronger is the one of Anti-Punic Propaganda... but again, it doesn`t convince me. I prefer to follow the classical theory.
See ya.

Voted etruscians because I shall unite Italy and then invade the evil Persia!![]()
Carthage, because I want to make them an even greater power, so that when Rome comes against them will be crushed! Plus it would be great to command a nation that did not really have a standing army. It would jsut make it that much more harder.

....and better avoid bringing up that "who is who"....its against any sense to name thracians as "greeks" and its also harmfull in many ways (if u didnt understand why pm me)
i know that many several readings in greek leave the issue unclear and suggest that thracians esp of southern region had a mixing with greeks but that is rather stupid
*however i d love to play them in the game, they are fancy and colorful and with erratic warfare compared to both the greeks and the persians
Cheers!I need to try something different than those child-burner Carthagineans
