for example, if i am waiting for an enemy to run at my army and tire out but still want a charge bonus, i have to order unites individually against the unit they are directly facing. in real life, a general just has to give the signal and his army will do their pre-planned charge maneuver. they don't hesitate like morons and have their units attack one after the other as you assign commands.

however, if you pause excessively to try to think and improvise, then you kinda have an unfair advantage.

It is not, of course if you have fun only from promoting your own ego like all skilled multiplayer gamers have, than ofcourse using pause lowers the good feeling you get from thinking that you are great while playing computer game and beating someone.
But if you are a roleplayer and you get fun from playing historical way, than pause button is a need to accomplish more exact historism in battles, which than incerases the good feeling.

I am quite good especially in starcraft so I know very much about the ego issue which forces us to spend zounds of houres playing the same thing round and round to become good at it and to make us feel good, but I as well like to roleplay to some certain level, there you can get some fun too.

I must say that this thread is rather stupid(to be honest). If you go about your buisness the way others want you to, then what's "your" in "go about your buisness". Play as you wish, nevermind others judging from their point of view. I've not played multiplayer and I'll probably never will, but I can assume that there is no pause-button there, and therefore most multiplayer-players, have learned to play without it. Since they have learned to play without it, they are able to call others "noobs" because using an advantage not necessary(although useful). Your gamestyle is none of anybodies buisness, and there is no need to argue about something which are seen on from two competly diffrent perspectives - both of which have both good and bad "points".

P.S: When saying "go about your buisness" I don't mean it in a comical way such as "peeing" or whatever you'll think of.
