Shortcut to windows in game?

Can I make a shortcut so I can check the internet while playing, without having to quit all the time? I run my version through steam btw

What version of Windows do you use? If you have windows 7 you can just click alt + tab to cycle through windows and programs. I think that it works with Windows xp too btw, otherwise you click the windows-logo key to get to the desktop, or just ctrl-alt-delete and close the task manager.

I use windows 7

I have tried alt + tab but it opens the steam menu and nothing else

when I click on the windows-logo key nothing happens and ctrl-alt-delete goes to windows, but right in the game after 1 sec

Change the Steam Overlay shortcut to something other than alt + tab then, so when you do alt + tab it minimises the game rather than opening Steam Overlay.

Some games don't like being minimised too much, so if you can just use Steam's web browser it's preferable.

Press the Windows Logo (flag thing) and tab.

Steam has an internet browser built in, if you check the options there should be a shortcut to bring up the Steam overlay, there's a web browser in it and it can run while you play.

I also use it, but I also have some link I want to access from the desktop

It all depends on the game, in some games all you need to do is press the windows key and it will minimize, other games alt+tab, some game won't minimize for anything at all, I'm playing Morrowind on XP right now and absolutely nothing will minimize that game, so I have to use my laptop at the same time for internet use, otherwise Morrowind takes a long time to close and reload.

Brings up the desktop in 800x600 resolution down from my typical 1920x1080 desktop resolution when I do that with Morrowind music still playing away. And then when I enter the game again it usually starts glitching with desktop icons flashing through the game for some odd reason.
