    Default Reduce effect of distance on merchant productivity

    I know how to change the value of trade goods, but is it possible to affect the distance from capital on merchant productivity? Or is this just changed by editing settlement mechanics?
    That's you, drops of water and you're on top of the mountain of success. But one day you start sliding down the mountain and you think wait a minute; I'm a mountain top water drop. I don't belong in this valley, this river, this low dark ocean with all these drops of water. Then one day it gets hot and you slowly evaporate into air, way up, higher than any mountain top, all the way to the heavens.

    Certainly not in that file - it just defines multipliers of settlement income.

    Your file is descr_campaign_db (open with notepad), down in the merchants section:

    <merchants>
    <base_income_modifier float="0.7"/>
    <trade_bonus_offset float="10.0"/>
    </merchants>

    The first entry (modifier) is simply a multiplying factor with regards to the base price I would think.
    I am not sure what the second one is.
    My bet is more with a hard coded thing, seeing that the price of the merchandise gets more expensive the further its first instance is away from the capital. Example: if you had an instance of silk right next to London, then the silk next to Baghdad would bring exactly the same amount: a pittance for English merchants.

    While fiddling around: <trade_bonus_offset float="10.0"/> dictates the distance effect. A value of 1.0 makes closer wine resources the same value as far wine resources as far as I can tell.
