    All these abilities are used in the custom battle screen and the campaign. In the campaign you have to research for example the pike square formation. The ability wedge formation must be researched within the General's skill tree.

    All abilities below are added to the units. No vanilla abilities have been removed and all units keep their original skills too.

    - all Generals use wedge formation, rapid advance and second wind

    - Great Guard unit uses stand firm and rapid advance (the technology shogun_military_spear_sojutsu_mastery is required)

    - all Hero units (Sword, Yari, Naginata, Bow) use rapid advance

    - Katana Samurai use rapid advance

    - all Yari units use pike wall formation and pike square formation (the normal Yari Ashigaru can't use the square formation)

    - all Naginata units use pike wall formation

    - all Matchlock Warrior Monks use rank fire

    - Fire Rocket units use rank fire

    - Katana Ronin use rapid advance

    - Ninjas use rapid advance

    - Samurai Retainers use rapid advance

    - Naginata Warrior Monks Cavalry use war cry

    - Onna Bushi use pike wall formation, rapid advance and second wind

    - Warrior Nuns use pike wall formation, rapid advance and second wind

    I created for each unit a customized encyclopedia HTML file.





    You can open these pages in three ways.

    1. (in-game) open the custom battle screen and select a custom unit by right-clicking

    2. (in-game) open the campaign recruitment queue and select a custom unit by right-clicking

    3. (not in-game) browse with your Windows Explorer to the directory below and open the file AUM-SHO.html with a browser

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\total war shogun 2\data\encyclopedia

    You'll see the link AUM-SHO in the lower right corner of all customized pages. This is the index file where you can browse through all custom units.

    These customized encyclopedia files are not linked within the normal vanilla unit index lists as I don't touch the vanilla encyclopedia.

    Installation

    - if you use the gameplay mods of RADIOUS you can use his Radious Units Mod as all AUM-SHO units are included there
    - can be used with save games and you don't have to start a new campaign
    - can be used with other mods together

    All custom units can be played in the custom battle screen and the normal campaign. They are not available in the campaigns of the DLCs "Rise of the Samurai" and "Fall of the Samurai".


    Installation instructions:

    1. download the AUM-SHO vanilla version or the AUM-SHO Darthmod version and unpack the files to a folder


    2. copy the file aum_sho_mod.pack (vanilla version) or aum_sho_mod_dms.pack (Darthmod version) to your Shogun 2 data folder:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\total war shogun 2\data


    3. The "encyclopedia" folder contains the custom AUM-SHO encyclopedia pages and images.

    No vanilla files will be overwritten and no conflicts with other mods appear.

    Copy the AUM-SHO.html from "encyclopedia" to this folder:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\total war shogun 2\data\encyclopedia


    Copy all aum_*.html files from "encyclopedia\units" to this folder:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\total war shogun 2\data\encyclopedia\units


    Copy all aum_*.png files from "encyclopedia\content_images\units\large" to this folder:

    4. Activate the mod with the official Shogun 2 Mod Manager

    Or create/edit the user.script.txt file in this folder: (there are example files included within the download)

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts

    You must save the script file in UNICODE. Open the script file with the Windows Text Editor and choose File > save as > coding > UNICODE.

    Please put the AUM-SHO entry on top of the script file if you use other mods.

    Add this line below if you play the VANILLA version:

    mod aum_sho_mod.pack;

    Add this line below on top of the list if you play the DARTHMOD version:

    mod aum_sho_mod_dms.pack;

    If you use the DARTHMOD EMPIRE LAUNCHER, then you can edit the script file in the menu.


    General information about the Windows Explorer:

    It could be that your Windows Explorer doesn't show the file extension like .txt. This can be activated in the "Folder Options" of the Windows Explorer.

    - Go to the settings in your Windows Explorer
    - Go to the "Folder Options" > Tab "View"
    - Scroll down until you see "Hidden Folders and Files"
    - There you can enable "Hidden Folders, Files and Drives"

    If you encounter any problems with the script file and AUM-SHO doesn't load, then you can try the Mod Manager by Mitch:

    5. Language information:

    The unit names appear automatically if you play the English version. You can switch your language in the Steam options of Shogun 2.

    For all other languages it is mandatory to install the related language file here:

    Recommendations:


    Create a backup of your save games before using AUM-SHO. If you install an unit pack and then play a campaign, the IDs of the custom units stay in the save game. If you remove later an unit pack in your ongoing campaign, then the save game can't be loaded correctly if there are recruited custom units in the armies from you or the AI.

    If the custom battle screen crashes, then please remove all files in these two folders below:

    Crash of the game:

    If your game crashes you could re-download changed "vanilla" files and verify the integrity of the game:

    > Open Steam > click on my games > right-click on Shogun 2 > left-click on properties > then look for the Local files tab and click on Verify the integrity of the game cache

    There you can re-check the integrity of your Shogun 2 files. It takes some time, but after updating you have again all proper vanilla files.

    Unit Pack Compatibility Languages Project - Shogun (UPC-SHO)

    > How to re-download changed "vanilla" files and verify the integrity of the game:

    There you can re-check the integrity of your Shogun files. It takes some time, but after updating you have again all proper vanilla files.

    > What to do if you don't see any unit names:

    You have to install one UPC-SHO language file into your Shogun 2 data directory. Please check that only one language file is loaded at the same time in your directory. Please delete all older UPC-SHO or other language files from other mods.

    Known issues:

    - All unit packs can cause problems in regarding of bow/gun sounds mixed. Here is a tutorial of my friend Radious how to fix it:

    - language file issues related to all other languages than English. We modders can now integrate our unit names directly into the mod file. But this does only work if the player uses the English language option in Steam. All other languages don't display the included unit names of a mod. Therefore I created the special UPC-SHO language packs.

    - the info pop-up of the castle buildings and the legendary temple building don't show up if too many units are assigned. You can still use right-click and look at the related info in the encyclopedia. This issue is related to all mods which add units to the castle and temple buildings.

    - customized HTML encyclopedia files can't be integrated directly into the mod file.

    You have to manually copy/paste the customized AUM-SHO encyoclopedia files into the related folders. All custom AUM-SHO units are only linked within the special AUM-SHO.html encyclopedia pages which is selectable on each individual custom unit page in the lower right corner. Just right click on a custom AUM-SHO unit in the custom battle screen or the campaign recruitment queue to see the custom encyclopedia page. If you browse through the vanilla encyclopedia unit lists, then the custom units don't show up because I didn't changed the vanilla encyclopedia files.

    - there is a sound issue with wrong unit speeches if you click on a custom unit.

    - all mods which add custom units to Shogun 2 cause loading problems if you play a campaign and then later remove the mod again.

    AUM-SHO is fully save-game compatible and you don't need to start a new campaign. You can continue your campaign. But if you remove AUM-SHO, then your campaign save-game can't be loaded properly. This problem have all mods which add custom content.

    thanks a lot for your interest for my upcoming AUM-SHO.

    I made some unit related changes in the demo campaign. Unfortunately I experienced some problems/bugs and the current beta is not stable enough to release the first version yet. I'm working on it and I have to test that properly.

    AUM-SHO will be as compatible as possible that you can use it with other unit mods, custom battle mods and major mods.

    • As always in my AUM mods I start to unlock several vanilla units in the campaign for other factions.
    • optimize the "General abilities" on the battlefield
    • optimize the "Unit abilities" on the battlefield
    • optimize the "Campaign AI recruitment" behavior

    New custom test units will be included after the related important DB tables are accessible.

    Hello to all SHOGUN 2 Demo players,

    today I released the first version of AUM-SHO 1.0. At the moment it isn't possible to create custom units because several important DB tables aren't accessible yet. I optimized the abilities of several vanilla units.


    I tested AUM-SHO 1.0 with .Mitch.'s amazing Battle Creator.

    All changes below will fully work in your own created custom battles and with all other mods.

    Changed the unit abilites of these vanilla units:

    - all Generals can now use "wedge_formation"

    - these "Yari" units can now use "pike_wall_formation":
    "Inf_Spear_Yari_Hero"
    "Inf_Spear_Yari_Samurai_Dojo"
    "Inf_Spear_Yari_Samurai_Hattori"
    "Inf_Spear_Yari_Samurai"
    "Inf_Spear_Yari_Ronin"

    - these "Hero units" can now use "rapid_advance":
    "Inf_Sword_Katana_Hero"
    "Inf_Sword_Katana_Hero_Shimazu"
    "Inf_Missile_Bow_Hero"
    "Inf_Missile_Bow_Hero_Chosokabe"

    - these "Matchlock Warrior Monks" can now use "rank_fire":
    "Inf_Missile_Matchlock_Warrior_Monks"
    "Inf_Missile_Matchlock_Warrior_Monks_Uesugi"

    Awesome! Well done Swiss, just wish we could finally try these units out in battle. Looking forward to more AUM in the near future. if you need some unit skinning, I'd like to get my feet wet eventually.

    Hello Rhetorikolas, thanks a lot and you could create a custom battle with .Mitch.'s amazing Battle Creator.

    All changes will fully work in your own created custom battles and with all other mods.

    Hello to all AUM-SHO players,

    I'm working on AUM-SHO 1.1 and if all tests are ok it will be released tomorrow.

    I will optimize again the abilities of several vanilla units:
    > enhance the "General" and "Great Guard" units
    > "Samurai Retainers" get "rapid_advance"
    > all "Naginata" units get "pikewall_formation"
    > all "Ninja" units get "rapid_advance"

    1question: can u add ability "squer formation" / like ashigaru in tuto 1 battle/ for yari units to??I dont see in custom battles..
