    Default Modern Hardware

    Hello guys

Is there a way to play Shogun 1 or Medieval 1, with modern hardware. As i remeber last time i tried to play Medieval 1 with nvidia 8800 about 2-3 years ago.... Game loaded fine all was working fine, but when you were fighting something, camera went crazy, when you command your troops to go forward they go back or some other direction .... and various other small crazy things.

It depends what you call "modern". GeForces 8XXX and 9XXX are still incompatible with mtw. But I remember someone reported GTX 460 as fully working.

Unfortunately, no. Generally, I've never seen any info about not working ATI/AMD cards (maybe except mobile versions like HD4650 in my laptop).
btw I'm going to buy similar card in next few months so I hope someone will give us more definite answer.

I got two HD5830’s (Cat. 10.4 or 5, XP 32bit drivers) and as long as I don’t use “crossfire” they do function - but after a while loading times get screwed up. You are basically forced to restart your PC to counter it – and so it goes. The best solution these days are still to get dedicated equipment for MTW and to a lesser degree STW. I made many posts on that very subject.

The bottom line, HD 5830 (thus other HD 5800-cards, with da right drivers) works or rather functions but with loading time issues. It is hardly optimal cards for MTW but they do work – just not flawlessly for prolonged gaming (da loading times). They don’t seem to need the button fix or redux to run the game either.

EDIT: MTW use DX 9 as well...

    - cheers

Meh, such a great game Medieval 1 and Shogun 1, but sadly CA does not support it anymore. But it would've been so cool if CA made a patch that would support new hardware.

Also these games as far as i know (MTW) is based on DX8 aka DirectX 8 and modern windows like vista and Win 7 are only compatible upto DX9 not 8.
So if you have windows XP you can still play them considering you got the right card i'm sure someone with the latest G.card was playing these games.
