Default Update thread 27 Feb. 2011

I feel like I haven't done enough to keep you all up-to-date on our progress, so here's a report.

Carados is rocking the units, designing some stuff and working on filling out holes in various places. His current computer troubles are holding him up a bit, but overall we're in great shape on that front.

Greno Zee is helping us out with some interesting traits work, and I think his contributions will improve gameplay a great deal.

Mogan's been under the weather, but is putting the finishing touches on his quotations file. I think it'll be a nice improvement from the old ones.

It's been two months and I'm still placing resources, but it's nearly done. The next version will have a well-cited resource list and a few neat twists. With some help from Hannibal Smith, I got the RS2 environments installed into the ExRM. I think you're all going to love them. While I was at it, I added a seventh culture: nomadic. That was really necessary, in our opinion, in order to show the differences between steppe cultures, barbarian cultures, and Eastern cultures.

So we're moving along nicely, and well on our way to a beta. I'll throw up a beta testing thread when we're nearly ready if anyone's interested in helping out.

    Back.

I've not actually installed anything yet so it'll be a little while longer yet before I can start work again.

Cool! Good luck with the reinstallation. That's always a pain.

in advance i'm sorry as this post is just me doing my fanboy ranting, and is not really contributing in terms of ideas/suggestions

Sorry are you saying let me make sure i got this straight, are you saying I can get the amazing RS2 environment and the awesomeness of the ExRM mod togther, PLUS a new culture!!

Oh btw what type of specs/training do i need to beta test? I'd love to help and i've been scouring the threads to better understand game mechanics and such. (though i'm still a long ways off )

Yeah, it's going to be pretty cool.

Our beta testing won't be particularly advanced. The game should be fully functional when you get it, with minor things like secondary buildings and a few units being added as we go. All we'll need is someone who can report that something is broken. Fixing would be nice, of course, but merely the indication that something is broken is the key.

*Appreciative but slightly annoyed statement that confirms that release comes when it's done.*
