    i think 50-70 more turns

    "event historic ENGLISH_ARCHERS
    date 170 190"

There ya go, so turn 170 - 190, however, if you get archer's guild before then, I believe you get longbows with it. I got longbows in nottigham at about turn 20ish that way with SS 6.4 and Meneth's Sub Mod Compilation 5.3

Welsh Longbow mercenaries are available before that.

SS 6.4 + MSMC 6.0 together creates a weird atmosphere, like i got offered a Woodsman Guild when playing HRE. when i reverted back to 6.4 it doesnt offer that guild anymore. anyway on the topic, i suggest switching to plain 6.4 to determine the exact date you get longbows

Were longbows really that historically late of a creation? Or did it just take that long for them to be employed millitarily?

A similar question, I was offered and accepted the woodsmans guild and master woodsmans guild on Nicosia (Cyprus) but I cannot recruit any longbows yet. Do I need a particular level of castle/bowyer before the guild allows me to recruit them?
Looking forward to Dominion of the Sword

Longbows were around in Neolithic times.
Militarily they've been used for centuries.
Against unarmoured people you don't need too much training to hit someone at close range with one and cause damage.

The Anglo-Norman / English deployed bowmen to great effect at the Battle of the Standard in 1138
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Standard

It was only when deployed against armoured foes the untrained bowmen were found wanting.
Many military cultures went with the crossbow and developed that (up to the arbalest) as a way attack armoured foes.

The English discovered that with intensive training and better arrow heads they could penetrate mail armour and limited coats of plates.
(and the Welsh longbowmen gave them a graphic example of that.)
So the English went with using massed trained longbowmen in the field, which proved effective until the 15th century.
(when full harness plate armour proved almost invulnerable to longbow arrows.)

(but remained in use until the 16th century as after the 100 years war they were useful against Scots and Irish armies with many unarmoured troops.
And were used with effect in the wars of the Roses, where combatants did not have full-plate armour.

Longbowmen are Local troops, and they can only be recruited in some parts of Britain.

Factions that own those local troops can recruit them anywhere.

And you answered wrong, too. Locals can only be recruited in a certain region, no matter what the faction. The owning faction gets higher replenishment rates, that's all.

And what if I choose late campaign? is it still 170 - 190 turns? btw I'm playing 2tpy i've tuned it myself by changing the descr_strat and deleting the ageing script
Cassius: "Our men at arms have secured the city. We've received representatives from all the best elements. The senate is with us, the knights are with us."
Brutus:"The pontifs, the urban cohorts, the lictors guild..."
Antony: "Oh, the lictors guild, very good. Only rally the bakers and the flute players and you can put on a festival."

No; events happen at set years, not set numbers of turns.

Hmmm ok then. I've checked events in the imperial campaign folder. Changed some events sooner, like the English Archers, instead of 70-90 I put 50-70. Will it work, or do I have to change it somewhere else as well?

Thanks for the answers. No problem, I am starting a new campaign soon.
