Default epic BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH -pictures included.. Whats the best performing budget 1GB graphics card?

So things have gone from bad to worse since I tried to overclock my graphics card (only by 10mhz), Im now getting artifacts when my computer boots and when I log in it crashes with this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I went into safe mode disabled my graphics card and restarted. That worked and I was able to log in normally. I then uninstalled the drivers and used driver sweeper. Then I reinstalled and restarted. That failed. Same artifacts and same crash. I dont have the money to change the card and its not covered by warranty (bought it off ebay 3 years ago, Iv had no problems in that time) I get this artifact on start up:

    And this in the bios:

I ran the hardware check on boot up: clean, I ran debug mode logged in ok (with lines across the screen) and then this came up:

I have a 800W Titan power supply, 4 GB of OCZ ram, 2900xt graphics card, Duo core E6400 (was overclocked to 2.7 for over a year with no problems before I reset it to default today) ASUS P5K motherboard

yep gpu has gone bye bye, also you should change your memory dump setting; it looks like its set to dump the entire ram to the hdd. Go to advanced system settings>startup and recovery and change it to none.

Also i just destroyed my graphics card too by ocing. I oced my 5770 by about 150mhz, doing a test after every small increment and it went bye bye a day later. RMAing it now, i hope they don't notice. I'm sure it tells in firmware somewhere.

Definitely a hardware error. The question is, what hardware? Chances are it's your GPU if you were trying to OC, but it could be the motherboard, it could be the RAM, etc.

Do you have any substitute parts you can swap out and test?

Also would this work well next to a overclocked E6400 or would that CPU effect performance?

If you're looking for a cheap temporary fix, (and I'm guessing you have a PCI-E slot because of the e6400) you can try Nvidia GeForce 8400 GT. Tiger Direct just had them on sale for $5, or you can pick up a 9500 GT 1GB card for ~$30 nowadays. It's solid and will play games until a better solution comes along.
