G Card: ATI HD 5670
Driver version: 10.5 (also had this error with 10.11 and 10.10)
Mod version: 6.4
Battle map: snow forest
Player: Byzantine empire
AI: Hungary

Please can you try, After Battle Deployment, click on any unit,so its highlighted, then select battle

I confirm, clicking anything with left mouse button during deployment phase is necessary to avoid CTDs after pressing "start battle". I verified it on crashing savegames forum members uploaded.
