Default Is CA trying to hard?

It seems to me that between every game CA tries to outdo themselves. But why? Right now new technological possibilities justifies an improvement from Napoleons graphics (which I still find impressive) but considering how much tweaking will have to be done in S2 I'm starting to think that perhaps CA shouldn't focus as much on graphics and animations as with tactics and the campaign.
Before every game there's much abuse of expressions such as 'completely re-done...', 'new system', 'cutting-edge graphics' etc. Why not stick with graphics a tad better than Napoleon and have less technical problems?

Am I just complaining or should CA actually tone down their ambition of visuals?

personaly i would prefer if they use ntw graphics and instead of keep pushing ahead the graphics wich only serves for we spent money on upgrades wich graphics alone doesnt make the game great, if they put more efforts of gameplay features.
Common sense removed due being Disruptive.

I found the pre-purchase of this game to be really cheap in some places, but I agree, why not develop new features instead of just mixing together stuff from NTW and M2TW? I will surely enjoy the game but still, it's not that different from either of the two earlier games (ETW not included).

well said, i would even be fine with MTW2 graphics and better ai/gameplay.

I wonder though which comes first- new, more expensive graphics cards or games that require more expensive graphics cards. It's a chicken/egg cycle

i wish they would have stayed with M2 graphics, because all thats really improved is the graphics and some minor campaign stuff, the AI has not, the animations have gotten worse (seriously, get rid of motion capture). They keep improving the graphics to the point you need a new computer every few years jsut to run the game, yet the game itself just changes settings and in some cases gets worse.

I don't mind motion capture that much, M2TW doesn't look better when a lot of units are crammed into a small space, it actually looks a bit worse, at least now the soldiers aren't walking through each other like ghosts (or at least it doesn't show as much).

But yes, I think they could have stuck with the NTW-engine.

The animations have gotten worse? Sorry, but I must disagree.

I've seen the NTW graphics un Ultra High, on a very powerful computer with a 28" monitor and I have to say they look absolutely gorgeous. The graphics are brilliant, the animations fluid. Granted, it takes a super computer to do that, but on the high end of the scale, it's worth it.

On the other hand, they are trying to improve in every aspect of the game. If they didn't, then a huge part of the team would just be fired because they have nothing to work on. And plus the sales will dwindle as well because there's a good bunch of people playing battles just for the eye candy.

Graphics are important for immersion but i think we reached a point where i think they can keep this style which is very enjoyable and fully focus on improving the core gameplay.. They toke a good step with the AI but they still need to work on it and they need a extreme improvement on the diplomacy and game replayability

M2 graphics were fine, if they would stop messing with the graphics and acutally improve the AI then the series would be in a perfect position.

CA aren't trying hard enough in my opinion. They need to redouble their efforts and move forward.
