    Default Avoid Corrupted Save

Like the description emplies, I need tips to avoid save-corruption. I'm getting rather tired of this problem since it's happening to me with every mod I'm playing - it grows old.

I'm playing on my Syracuse campaign, and suddenly this crap strikes me again. I can't shake it so it has to be something I'm doing. Any obvious tips to stuff I should stay away from? Perhaps some options? By the way I'm using ALX.exe since I have a personal hatred towards hording factions - they just won't die!

So; if anyone could tell me some recommendations with install(I read those on the readme file, didn't suggest an engine though), options or in-game stuff I should stay away from. I would be very appreciative. I know that pretty much the first thing that comes to your mind is "keep multiple saves" well I've done so, I'm not sure my system of choosing which file I should save on each turn, but I try to keep it simple going say; "Syracuse-1" on turn 1, 4, 7 etc. "Syracuse-2" on 2, 5, 8 etc. and "Syracuse-3" on 3, 6, 9 etc. If anyone could share how their system for multi-saving I'd appreciate that to.

    Thanks in advance!

Corrupted saves may be a system issue rather than a game one.
I suggest you to run a disk error check, followed by defragmentation.

The procedure varies slightly depending on your OS, you can usually access to it by right clicking on your disk (inside computer or my computer), clicking on properties and looking up for tools.

Thanks I'll try it this instant, I really hope it is because of that - would be wonderful if this got fixed. I'll get back to you when it's done.

Alright, now that it is done I'm ready to start a new campaign but before I do I'd like to hear the answer to a few questions.

1: Should I reinstall now that I've defraged - or does it not matter?
2: I'd like to know every recommended setting there is that makes a diffrence - like I've said, I'm tired of restarting campaigns due to CTDs. These settings could be from everything in between the choice of RTW-engine to in-game(not diffculty) options such as; advisor level, unit size, fatigue(on/off) - simply anything you could think of to avoid getting CTD. By the way; I'm assuming autosave should be off.

    Thanks again!

    1) If you ran a scandisk I'd suggest reinstalling both RTW and the mod itself to avoid any corrupted files.

    2) I play with autosave on and several decades may pass before any CTD. Take into account that TW itself is unstable after a few hours due to a memory leak.

But every other time I've had a CTD it has been alot earlier than this. This is my new save-system inspired by Ferdiad, and I've had no problems at all as of yet. I didn't reinstall anything by the way, but I've come alot longer than I otherwise would.

P.S: I deleted my first two saves(those called "Rome275-270Sum/Win) because I have an old habit of using one and the same save-file(which has probably been my problem even though I tried multiple saves, I didn't have a decent system for it up until now), thus deleting them to "make way" for the new ones. Meanwhile deleting them I came up with the idea that it was just plain stupid to do. Thus the system was born(for me).

I name my saves like so "Rome225-220BC" and I havn't got corrupted yet, this is helpful as all your saves are unlikely to get corrupted.
