    Default Kingdom of Rhovanion

Just out of curiosity, has it ever been considered to have Dale eventually reclaim Rhovanion and become the Kingdom of Rhovanion again?

I know Dale is already a somewhat strong faction (later on), but if Eriador can become Arnor, why not Dale evolve into Rhovanion once certain conditions are met?

Perhaps this is a stupid idea...But it would certainly provide a stronger ally for Rohan and Gondor, and a strong buffer against the Easterlings.

    Anyway, thanks for reading.

It will improve gameplay as you say becoming a strong ally fort both rohan and gondor. But I donīt think its lore acurate and we have very few information about the Rhovanion Kingdom in tolkien`s writtings, as far as I know. I think its more viable to have an event to restore the old Eregion domains of the elves. And also you can recapture Khazad Dum as dwarves but I cant see the kingdom of Dale restoring the kingdom of rhovanion. This is a personal point of view and your idea is very cool anyway

Well I was also curious as to what people would think of the idea...And if you think about it, restoring Arnor in the Third Age isn't very lore accurate either.

Heck, it could become a submod.

I don't actually play the game (I can't...My computer won't support it right now and I can't afford a better video card). But I do follow the forums and watch videos online...I consider it a way to get more LOTR action other than the movies. I just have been reading about Rhovanion and I was wondering why there was no faction.

The difference is that Arnor was actually restored. While Rhovanion was gone forever.

I suppose you're right...But what I meant was, Arnor was restored in the Fourth Age, so restoring it in the Third Age isn't lore accurate either.

By Gondor under the Reunited Kingdon not as a separate faction and that was in the 4th age.

The idea is by no means stupid, maybe only difficult as we lack information

I can fully understand that. But I have seen amazing creativity from the mod team when it comes to designing the various soldiers of every kingdom...and the borders of the Kingdom could include Dale and the area between Mirkwood, Mordor, and Rhun.

The game engine allows only one reunion country, as I understand. There are a number of candidates for further "restored kingdoms" with Angmar being the one most discussed on these forums but sadly, there can be only one.

Well if that were true, then I would have to say to keep Arnor.

If not, then I don't know. I can't play the game as of yet, but I think it would be cool to have a new faction.

What, why is that? As far as i know Barsoom, the only thing you need for a new "emerging" faction to replace an old one is another faction slot. And TATW still has a good 15+ or so of them left.

I don't know the specifics. It has something to do with keeping the player in control when you switch factions IIRC, otherwise the emerging faction would be AI-controlled. Or something like that. It was discussed in several threads on the submod forum.

So, what should be the reunification targets?
There are few things we know about Rhovanion, and their unit roster would be a mix between Rohan's and Dale's with some other similar ones.

    Very good idea!

Although we have very little information about Rhovanion, we only need new units to recreate it.
Some current units of Dale can become of Rhovanion (the gadraughts, the aihwothiulda), other generic units (swordmen, militia, cavarly) can be invented based on Rohan, Eriador and Dale. And other Dale units (elite archers, bardian hird) can persist as they are good units and very unlikely to dissapear.

Well I'm happy people enjoy the idea...Surely I'm not the only one to have thought of it though.

I still wish I could play the dang game though

Well I believe somewhere in either the simillarion or the back of the LOTR triology book, there is mention of the area that the kingdom of Rhovania covered.

"Romendacil showed especial favor to Vidugavia, who had aided him in the war. He called himself King of Rhovanion, and was indeed the most powerful of the northern princes, though his own realm lay between Greenwood and the River Celduin" Thats from appendix A in the back of my book, so we got a vague idea of the territories it would encompass?

As for units, a mix of Rhohirric and Dale would be what the old kingdom was like considering the Rhovanions are the ancestors of the eorl the young and his people who migrated after the wainrider invasion...

Well I would actually like it quite much. It gives more flavor to the game overall. Yes it's inaccurate lore-wise but so is having the Dwarves as one faction and even pretend that the Elves (both Silvan and Eldar) could muster enough forces to reconquer... well... anything. Isn't the point of Total war to get some free roam?

In my opinion it would be great to have numerous options for having your faction get another name. Like when Gondor would conquer Eriador for example to become the Reunited Kingdom.
