Some time ago I made this video. I wanted to show people how a battle could have been, and what battle is more heroic than the one at Thermopylae. It took me hours, hours and even more hours to finish this movie. It was hard. And hey, it has music from The Gladiator.
First I had to master the movie editor. I played battles and battles and replays and replays. I edited my ass off until I got the hang of it. After that I fought countless battles against the AI, in the hope it would turn out alright for this theme.
Well, and if that ain't all, you don't want to know how much work it takes to edit a battle of 45 minutes into 10 minutes, trying matching it with the music, keeping the quality high. I had thousands of pictures on my hard drive which I had to turn into clips, which had to turn into this movie.
But hey, I did it and this is the result. I admit the quality is not superb, the original video was 500 MB and I managed to shrink it too a lousy 64 MB or something like that. Don't worry about the size because Google will STREAM it for you. If you people like the movie I'll try to upload a better quality version this weekend.
Of course, it was not possible to recreate the battle of Thermopylae. What I did was using a small number of Spartans and a whole lot of Persians. The fight starts at a bridge, to simulate the battle space. It was impossible to find a right location for this, other than the bridge. Last, the Spartans eventually move over the bridge, because the AI didn't move. It turned out good because some time later the brave Spartans got surrounded, just like the real battle.
You will see some blurry spots sometimes if you view the movie fullscreen. Try not doing that, it will make things look strange. I'm really interested in what yoy guys think. ENJOY!
