Default How to create a controlled rebellion in your empire :)

If you want to create a "controlled rebellion" yourself this is what you do, real simple:

Pull out the governers & soldiers of all the settlements you want to revolt, raise taxes to max and also destroy public order buildings like temples etc.

All this should drastically reduce "public order" in your settlements and make them revolt.

(But leave like 1 unit in each settlement so that it can't be suddenly grabbed by another faction)

Then wait a few turns and bingo they should all turn blue.

So by using this tactic you could make say the whole of greece rebel. While keeping the rest of your empire under your control.

    Good luck

Although I fail to see the sense in making a rebellion of whole Greece I use this strategy to create buffer zones between me and some other nation I don't want to have war with. Unfortunately every AI nation will declare war on you at some point as long as there is a border.

Why would you want to do this, as you will still have to deal with the civil war rebellion as well, as that is scripted to happen at a certain point, any city that you let rebel before that will join the rebels, because they are the rebel faction shadowing the roman faction.

You can set the stage for an Octavian (western rome faction) Vs Mark Antony (rebel eastern rome faction) war

I think I screwed up the 2nd rebellion in my current campaign (through force diplomacy bug) so I dont think it's going to happen.

If I'm playing say as Macedonia and want to stop Dacia from attacking me I force diplomacy an alliance with them with no trade agreement.

If they decide to attack me, I force diplomacy a protectorate agreement with them with no trade agreement. (ie: the minute they have become your protectorate cancel trade agreement)

Keep them poor and they won't attack you

Although this feels like exploiting, literally since Dacia pays for protectorate, I will consider this. Rebels at the border keep attacking aswell and they've got endless money.

    Wipe out the rebels
Britain is a rebel nightmare, trust me I've been there lol

Tip: when you take London, position 1 stack south of the river crossing (just outside the London settlement)
Stack after stack will attack you, but you will be able to position your troops where the rebel troops attempt to make their crossing and you can literally wipe out 5000+ rebels by encircling them at the front and at the sides when they attempt to cross.
With a legion of about 850 men I killed about 5000-6000 rebels.

I was talking about the Roman Rebels but Free People can be a nuisance aswell. At times I deactivate fow to check out the world and yes, Britain is a big pile of rebel madness... so I'll use your tip when I'm getting there. Right now I just got Marian reforms so I'll build those cool legions first.

I think its easier to use Force Diplomacy and give those buffer regions to the rebel faction or one thats smaller (or even a protectorate of a powerhouse like rome or something), theyre more resistance than the "slaves" faction, and can engage in diplomacy

I tend to use the greek cities as buffer states and give them border provinces to block more powerful enemies- I can easily deal with the greeks if they decide to turn on me.
