This looks like it should be quite good, I'm nexcited to see how it will turn out.

Couple questions about the unit roster,

I don't see any Irregular/light infantry, any plans for a Coureurs des Bois or canadian Militia unit?

How about adding the Cannoniers-Bombardiers? They were considred the elite of the troops of New-France and could be represented as a unique Grenadier regimentrecruitable in Quebec.

    Thanks

Actually, I've only planned the "corps de cavalerie".
The unit will use the FR_CAV_DRAGONS_INDIA.

About "Canonniers-Bombardiers", it seems that we can use the FR_INF_GUARD model.

I've found few information about canadian militias.
Question is, should I represent them in winter or in summer clothes (and not uniform...).
About natives and others light troops, I will probably work on them later.

First, I have to finish cavalry models.

If you have documents or picture about French colonial unit from Nouvelle France or Louisiana you can post them in this thread.

    (1) Canada - 1750 : corps de cavalerie
    (2) Canada - 1750 : miliciens
    (3) Canada - 1756 : volontaires étrangers

Wangrin if you don't see any disadvantages, I will texture the " Compagnie franche marine", something like that:

    Thanks for pictures
They come from Osprey - Men at Arms - Montcalm's Army.

Light and irregular Canadian tropps will need a new model.
I will have a look later.

Some "Compagnies Frances de la Marine" pictures from Marine Royale XVIIe - XVIIIe siècle : Uniformes, équipement, armement.

So, "à toi de jouer" Flikitos

    I've finished the FR_CAV_GUARD model.
It will be use for :
    • Maison du Roi : Garde du Corps du Roi ;
    • Maison du Roi : Compagnie des Gendarmes de la Garde Ordinaire du Roi
    • Maison du Roi : Compagnie des Chevau-Légers de la Garde Ordinaire du Roi
    • Gendarmerie de France
    • Maréchaussée (use as a police force)
    • Compagnies de la Connétablie (could be use as guard unit for general or as an elite police force)

The model could be also use for :
    • Maison du Roi : Compagnies des Mousquetaires de la Garde Ordinaire du Roi

So, "city" militia could be dress with red uniform.
But I really think that "common" militia should not have real uniform.
I forgot where I read that militia had a red hat (I don't know how to translate "bonnet" )

In the spanish case, the militias are differents... the city militia could be more "fashionable" ´cause the own councils and guilders could made these troops -like the Milicia of my town*- and the "common" militia -like the "caudillatos" in Galiza- were, really, peasants with different weapons and without uniforms. The provincial were organized with a regulated uniform and, their grenadiers were employed like infantry line in campaign out of the province -like the Italian Wars-.

    Well, you're right Geronimo
    I will edit this immediately.

I'm working on DaNova hussar model.
I've modified mirliton's pennon and I'm adding a new sabretache.
The mirliton will be use for light infantry model too.

It started a little earlier in North America. While skirmishes and what I'd refer to as "affairs of outposts" occured as early as 1754, full blown battles -involving regulars and artillery- were happening by 1755.
