    Awesome work with the chasseurs de Fisher! Can't wait to see the colonial cavalry for New-France ;-)
    I forget to tell, but I'm a member of an historical reenactment group on the Royal Écossois. Here some pictures if it can help for the Royal Écossois, the Gardes Françaises and some other French regiments.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    I think on the battlefield, all soldiers would wear white/black gaiters over their stockings though, unlike in some of those pictures.

    I think they were reenacting Almansa (1707). Probably gaiters were not a common feature of uniforms in early 18th century? I like their tricorns very much though, and the allongé wig (although it doesn't fit chronologically to some other wigs that can be seen in the video)!

    I doubt that's the reason. Most of the soldiers in 162eRI's pictures are wearing white gaiters. I am referring to the fact that some are not. As for when gaiters started being worne, in Denmark it was 1700 but the gaiters then were red, but may not have been standard until 1712 when the gaiters were white or grey. The Portuguese may not have introduced gaiters as standard until around 1762. I think 162eRI's pictures are from a renactment at Fort Louisburg in Canada. They can't be from Almanza because the Royal Ecossais didn't exist back then.

    Well they still can be from Almanza as this is an reenactment ( ). I still like the tricorns though! Thanks for the info!

    Here's a wip of the Gardes Suisses with the new tricorne:

    Don't forget the time line is mid-XVIIIth century, not early early XVIIth century.
    I've base my work (at least, most of it) on uniform regulation, and infantry was told to wear gaiters (mostly white) when in campaign.

    Nice work Geronimo, but seeing your units, I have some comments:
    -What about the alfa's layer, may be you forget it?
    -Do not you think that the yellow of your marck regiment is a little bit too... yellow?
    -And finally, you forgot the normal_map for some patterns of the uniforms.

    On the other hand "bravo" for your work!

    I'll lighten the yellow a little. However, that picture is supposed to represent the German regiments in general or at least that is my interpretation (correct me if I'm wrong wangrin?) rather than a specific one. I will get around to finalising those "normal" files when I have the chance. The diffuse and gloss are more important.

    The alpha channel in the "gloss" file is filled in with black in order to prevent the faction colour covering it.

    Maybe white braids should be more grayish to avoid the "bright" effect ?

    Very well I will darken them slightly.

    The tricorns look very good! Reputation to the whole team (as soon as I can give)! Hurray!

    Some points:
    I agree that the la Marck/german yellow is too yellow. It needs a bit more brown mixed into it.
    Shouldn't the belts be all white or probably light-yellow? The leather-brown looks really weird.
    It seems as if there's no transparency for the belt-buckles (except for the grenadiers) and the "cockade"?
    And will you be able to use Joedrecks "haircuts" (I muss the curls - and these short-cut powdered hair looks weird) and some "nicer"/less determined faces?

    Belt should be buff or natural leather not white.
    Face should be shaved, but those for light infantry should be... "lined".
    All heads use the long ponytail from Joedreck (typic from the SYW).

    But didn't you tell me that the Cuirassier du Roi were all required to have moustaches?

    Yes, some units, mostly elite, wore moustaches.
    For instance :
    Cuirassiers du Roi ;
    Grenadiers de France ;

    But they were the exceptions.

    Thanks

    I'm searching for fifers and drums rendering/interpretation for those songs :
    • Malborought s'en va en guerre (popular XVIIIth century marching song) ;
    • Joli tambour (3 jeunes tambours) (Joli tambour - youtube);
    • En passant par la Lorraine (Lorraine regiment's marching song) ;
    • Auprès de ma blonde (Champagne regiment's marching song) ;

    And for Revolutionnary wars :
    Ça ira
    La Carmagnole (Carmagnole - youtube)

    Does anyone know where I can find them or someone able to interpret those song (but only with fifers and drums) ?

    You're searching for real musicians to interpret these tunes for you?

    I can only recommend the album "40 years in the familiy" by the Tippecanoe Ancient Fife & Drum Corps (it is on itunes). The happy-tambour-youtube-link is their version. They also got "(À?) ca ira" on this album.
