    Default Start Up Crash Issue

When I click the icon to start this mod it gets to the info screen with the map in the foreground and text in the foreground and crashes back to the desktop. The window is still there, but minimized. When I try to maximize it it just minimizes again. I have to close it through the task manager.

I am running Win 7 Professional Edition and have the Activision/Rome - Total War folder on my desktop along with the shortcut icon. I have Rome and BI patched to 1.5 and 1.6 respectively and installed the 3.5.3c Hotfix after installing the mod.

This has happened with every version of RTR that I have tried to install on this computer.

    Help?

Hmmmm, most strange. Have you deleted the map.rwm file?

No...was I supposed to? I don't remember seeing that instruction...

I just looked for the file and the search came up with 10 map.rwm files...which do I delete?

Do you have any other programs open? I had a similar problem where I couldn't play Rome when I had firefox open.

As for the map.rwm files...delete them _all_. Leave not one alive, lest it train new Jedi to rise up and...um...just delete all of the map.rwm files. That might be your problem.

I deleted the files. When the game started up it showed the RTW basic info background and not the Total Realism one. The menu looked the same as RTW's but it had a provincial campaign option...after that its vanilla RTW all the way??? The Bi disk was in the drive...wtf???

    Am I missing something here?

That means your shortcut isn't done correctly. You'll need to set it up as described in this thread to get it to load the mod.

Now its saying it can't find the .exe

It is there...how would I modify that first line, if at all, if I installed to the desktop?

I think I am going to just reinstall and hope that deleting those files works this time. Maybe there was a glitch in the way it laid out after the first install or something.

You'll need to have it start in the folder to which you installed the game itself, not the mod.

    Have you tried BladeRunner900's installer?
