    Default Legatus Trait

Sorry to open a new topic, but I have been working on this for a week or so now. First off, I like to roleplay with my generals. I have created a house rule that only generals who have the legatus or legatus legionaire trait can command full named legions. Those who have tribunis militia trait can only command small auxiliary units until that trait has been given to them. However, i have only two generals that have the legatus trait, and other generals i am trying to get there. I tried playing with the traits (editing minor stuff like chances of aquiring the trait or liklihood). HOwever for 20 plus turns now i have tribunis militias that have yet to gain the trait, and have 8+ command stars because i have been battling them so much. first why are they not gaining the trait (looking at the requirements they should), Second, are there limits to how many generals can have the legatus trait (still trying to learn the trait system) and third, are there any suggestions/tips to have/create the legionary trait?

    Thanks in advance.

Well, first of all, a lot of this depends on whether you are pre- or post Marian Reforms. The Legatus traits are a post Marian reforms trait that is dependent on your faction leader being in a city with an Imperial Legion fortress so that he can gain a Marian Reforms trait that allows all other Generals to advance to Legatus from Tribunus. If your faction leader is in a city with that barracks, then other characters should be converted over. If he isn't, and\or he succeeded a FL that had it for a while, but he died, and this new guy doesn't have it, then maybe some Generals got it, but all others will not. So anyway, the FL needs to spend a turn in a city with the Imperial Legion barracks, then all other Generals should start getting Legatus.

Sorry if I didn't clarify, but yes it post marian reforms and I have 2 characters with legatus traits. My faction leader stays in Rome all the time. However, I am currently training four more characters, none of which will get the legatus trait, and have 8+ command stars, inching on 50 years old....I didnt know if there was a limit to how many characters can have it

I will be sure and check the functionality of that when I'm working on the traits.
