Steam Uninstallation and Reinstallation...

So, I have this for steam, which I purchased for cheap during a sale. Then, after experiencing horrendous issues with the game, I uninstalled the Steam version, and purchased another retail copy. Now, when I try to install, it claims that the installer cannot detect the installed language. I've followed the instructions on Sega's website, and on the yuku forums, but half of the registry details they try to have me delete are not there. I believe this is because it is a steam game, but I'm wondering how I can finally uninstall this game and be able to install my new copy.

Have you tried uninstalling Steam, deleting the Steam folder, deleting the Medieval II Total War folder in %appdata% assuming Vista or 7, running a good registry cleaner, and reboot before installing?
