OK I give up. So my las topic where I said it was closed, I lied it isn't, still the same problem. New patch, no difference. Runs once, then after stopping the game for a "while" - no idea exactly how long, if I try immediately afterwards no problem, if I try hours later it doesn't work - so after some while, I get the same problem - splash screen then a minimized icon to the taskbar. This now happens with the unpatched version too.

All I can think of is somehow my installation is corrupt though it was untouched from when I installed RS initially to when I tried the patch the other day.

However, before re-installing, is there any way to get the log files populated? I'm just getting blank log files, nothing in the system event viewer - nothing I can see that indicates why the program is failing. It's not a UAC problem - bear in mind if I restart it will work, if it was UAC it would always fail, I'd just like to see a logged error so I would have an idea re-installing everything might actually be a solution.

I had a problem with the stability of the RTW engine on my current PC. It was only rectified by the use of the Large Address Aware (LAA) fix that is no longer allowed on TWC due to the fact that it modifies the exe.

I have fixed several problems using the Event Viewer - but not all crashes end up with an entry in there to indicate what may have casued the problem. At one stage by grpahics drivers had become corrupted....
