    Default About different Engines

    Hello!

What is the difference between the different engines?

    RomeTW.exe
    RomeTW-BI.exe
    RomeTW-ALX.exe

    Do they have advantages? disadvantages?
How do they influence or change the gameplay?
    Or what is their role?

Been serching for a longer time but couldn't find any answers

    AFAIK .......
RomeTW : is really basic ....... no shield wall or night battles
Rome-BI : has shield wall and night battles enabled .........
Rome-ALX : has all previous plus i think AI retrains its troops also makes descent navy, thr was some bug with phalanx which is fixed ........

well the rest i guess more experienced members can add ............
What man is a man who dose not make this world a better place to live in ...

Alex.exe do not support shield wall. BI.exe does. Alex do have upper hand when it comes to battles tho, slightly better then BI...

I'm playing with RTW and there are plentiful night battles...

Alex is considered to have the best AI of the three, it does however have a problem with ambush battles, but i believe a fix has been released for that somewhere, I personally use the BI.exe these days.

    For what reason?
Because it sounds cool or so?

Which AI is the most agressive?
    Like Gracul's AI in M2TW

BI has slightly better AI than RTW, lots of naval invasions, and shield wall, and maybe swimming.
    Both have night battles.
Alex has an ambush bug that I have failed to fix (which results in a CTD whenever I play a ambush, not auto resolve), so I just started using BI. Btw, shield wall Triarii can push through anything.
The reason I am using BI is because of the broken ambush battles for Alex, there is a fix for it, but it messes the initial ambush deployment up i believe which is why i am using BI.

But you can turn the night battles on on Alex.exe right?

I'm using RTW and there are naval invasions pretty frequently. Maybe I'll switch to BI because of shieldwall however.

Go with Alex if you can. The folks aren't mentioning the biggest plus for the AI, the unit retraining. Nothing like taking on units with chevrons! Also, the ambush bug is easily fixed. You just need to add the alternate ambush formation in the formations file. This is well documented in many forums.

wouldn't be a way to merge these engines to 1?
    with only the advantages?
    like controlled breeding

So, is the game not worth playing with standard R:tW?
