    Default Render.cfg guide?

    Hi all,

    I have not been around in ages but have returned now with a better PC to do M2TW movie making.

    I have been trying for ages now, looking through forums for a render.cfg and an edit.cfg guide,

    A guide that can tell me what all those values are and what it does if you change them. Would such an

    amazing person be out there that could direct me to such a thing?

    im sorry if this question has been asked before, or the answer is somewhere obvious.

    hmm. I have seen most of this info already in my quest. But in none of it is a kind of break down of whats in the render.cfg and edit.cfg files that are used in the Cinematic Editor. I would be looking for a guide to show what each value is and how to manipulate it. Thanks for the Info though both of you! there are many hidden gems you have shown me!

    I just re-read your OP and I am actually wondering what you are looking for as I have never come across one of these files. Only a CFG file for the cinematic editor - and that one is pretty straight forward.

    I have attached an old package that was gathering dust on my hard drive, maybe it is of some use.

    Thanks Gigantus for that post.
    yea- the Cine Ed render.cfg file is the one Im talking about

    basically.
    I am having a problem with my resolution setting in my renders.
    I am trying to render the avi's at 1280 x 1024.
    so what i have been doing is setting all those resolution settings in the render.cfg file to that setting.
    But weirdly, the avi's are coming out at 1272 x 853.........
    and since I dont know what all those commands are in the render.cfg file to go and fix whatever my problem is, I was asking around for some kind of guide to tell me what each value in that Cine ed render.cfg file meant.

    Does that make sense?

    thanks for any feedback

    there are a few settings in that cfg file that are nearly self explanatory and which you might have to change:

    tga_aspect = 1.33333
    - this would be related to the aspect ratio of the width to the height (eg 1024*768)
    tga_width = 5000
    - in the regular cfg file this sets the width of the screenshot
    battle_resolution = 1600 1200
    - this would be the your screen resolution in battle

    Ah! right.

    So if I want 1280 x 1024 and im getting 1272 x 853. then that means I need to play around with tga_aspect? I did try that once, i put the tga_aspect= 5/4

    Ive just read on the net that a 4/3 is a 1.3333333333 repeating.

    but my resolution is a 5/4 which if I wipp out my calc is a 1.25

    I shall try this and see.

    ---------------------------------
    this is weird.....
    I have changed the tga_aspect to 1.25. and the render has come out 1272 x 953 now!!!?????...
    hmmm, is there possibly another function in conjunction with this one that would make the right change? like any of these?

    tga_aspect = 1.25
    tga_input_scale = 1
    tga_reserve_space = 0
    tga_width =

    The small reduction (1272 instead 1280) will be because the editor is usually in windowed mode.

    Just some doodles
    1272*853=1.49
    1272*953=1.33
    1272*1024=1.24
    Try changing this entry from 1 to 0:
    widescreen = 1

    widescreen is on 0
    -----------------------------------------

    YESSSSS!!!
    SUCCESS!!!!!

    What I did is turned windowed = 1
    to
    windowed = 0

    so It rendered the scene without putting it in a window and thus did not clip off the sides and top and bottom of the camera because it was in the windowed mode.
    im so glad ive found the solution!

    thanks so much for your patient help Gigantus!
    Many thanks
