    Default Sudden Extreme lag

Hi to all. I have had medieval 2 for a few years now. Always able to play everything on high except for grass. Now however, my game lags when its one unit on the grassy flat level, everything on low. Its a sad day when my computer runs empire better than medieval. At first i thought it was just stainless steel. But its not my vanilla lags just as hard. The lag gets so bad at times that i go to according to fraps 0 fps. I havent installed anything new on my comp execpt Rome and Empire. All of this is through steam. Any help, is appreciated. System Specs are included.

Medieval2 is listed onI ntel's Game Compatibility list but RTW and Empire aren't so go figure. http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-026200.htm

One reason I can see why is dedicated graphics memory. According to CA specs:
Rome only needs 64mb and robbing your cpu to get it.
Medieval2 needs 128mb and robbing your cpu and not optimized to od it.
Empire needs 256mb and is better optimized for it.
    And your dxdiag says zero.

Once again thanks irishron. But why did it run so well earlier? I feel like a computer noob, though i saw what you were talking about. Nothings changed that i know of. I didnt get a new gpu or anything. Can my computer undedicate memory?

Why all at once? Are you using Game Booster to disable/turn off unneeded programs? Did your computer do an autoupdate? Did your antivirus do a scan?

That will cause lag. I have all my autoupdates disabled in msconfig.

You can turh the auto updates off. Vista will scream, though. I have mine set on notify only and run it when I get a chance.

Wait, were you running the scan while trying to play the game? You said you're in the middle of a scan so that's what I'm reading. Try ending the scan then try the game again.

I'm not aware of any Vista auto updates that would screw with graphics or the like - that stuff is usually optional.
