    Default Problem with installing mods

    Hi there,
i just bought a new pc (windows 7), i installed rtw, bi and alex (everything was fine)
then i installed a couple of mods i used to play on my old notebook (vista). I installed them as administrator.
So hereīs the thing. Some mods like Aristeia or The Greek Wars are working. With others like ROP or Troy Total War i keep having the same problems. I can install them completely, but when trying to play a campaign the game tells me to select an item from the list. Trying a custom battle i get back to the menu. When i exit rtw i get this error message: Error .../.../.../descr_strat at line (for example) 25, column 1. Expected start date of campaign or battle. Since i get the same error message for different mods i donīt think the problem has something to to with the particular mod. What could be the Problem??? Thanks Sonny

P.S. When i try to manipulate in the descr_strat i get the rome total war is not working any more error

Install the mods with the UAC disabled?

Do http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=397636 before installing any of them?

    Then the file is corrupted.

You have to be logged in as Admin and have full Admin rights to edit it.

Have you notified the respective mods?

I donīt think itīs a file problem, because I get the exact same problems and errors for ROP and TTW. What do you mean with respective mods? Thanks again

No I havenīt, because I thought it couldnīt be mod specific problem since two mods were effected by the same stuff. But i will contact them now! Thank you irishron

Itīs really not a mod thing. I keep having the exact same problems with Iberia Total War (game tells me to select an item from the list when pressing on campaign. i get to the menu when clicking on custom battle. When i exit rtw i get this error message: Error .../.../.../descr_strat at line (for example) 25, column 1. Expected start date of campaign or battle). After that i installed EB... works...

The error 'select an item from the list' is usually an indication that RTW BI is not patched to 1.6. The version number is shown on the top right hand side of the options menu.

It works... finally... I had to reinstall rtw, bi and alex with UAC disabled, then patch bi to 1.6 and then install the mods as admin. Thanks for everything guys
