do not forget dismounted norman knights
Oh yeah, kinda forgot about that...
That should be pretty easy - simple model tweak to remove spears and set swords as the primary weapon. I'll try to throw that together and upload it tonight. Might even put up a quick preview of the new feudal knights while I'm at it...![]()
awesome thanks btw are the militias and levys usable by all factions?
after knights can you do spearmen =)
hie bro how is progress?
thanks for doing this and looking the pictures its a must in ss
a suggestion is that beside the knights(that all people want), u could start from down below tier, units that all factions use so that all apreciate ur effort =), not just jerusalem/england/sicily players.
First, a hearty thank you to Frenchy for this project. A dream come true, really.
Now, I do apologize, but I can't find anything about how to edit the modeldb file, nevermind what to put in it. Though I think I might be able to figure the latter out if I had the former. I did search for a solution on this forum, and I'm sure it's here, but I just couldn't find it. "It" being what I'm assuming should be a modledb editor? Or do I perhaps just open that file in notepad? I haven't wanted to try that myself yet, just in case it's not the right answer and causes problems...
-edit-
Just after posting, I made a backup of modeldb and opened with notepad to find that it is indeed how it's done. But I was wrong. I can't figure out what to do next. :/

bro btw you please make a quik how-to-install guide just download them and i dont know wat to do with it
Open the model.db file with notepad. For example, you want to add the new Norman knights.
Find these lines:
14 norman_cavalry
1 1
49 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/miles_lod0.mesh 6400
3
7 england
72 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/EN_Lmail_Hmail_norman.texture

53 unit_sprites/england_Dummy_EN_Mail_Knights_sprite.spr
6 sicily

16 -0.090000004 0 0 -0.34999999 0.80000001 0.60000002
This is what you need.
1)Now, unrar Frenchy's .rar
There will be 4 texture files and 1 .mesh file.
2)Put the mesh file here: unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/
3)Put the texture files here: unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/
Note that you have to rename the texture files the same as given in the model.db file OR you can edit the lines in the model.db according to the names of your textures.
4)The 2 texture files that have "attach" in the name should be put here: unit_models/AttachmentSets/ BUT you'll need to rename them as is given in the model.db file OR you can leave them in the textures folder, but then you'll also have to change the model.db file.
You can find full info about the model.db file in the "Mod Workshop" forum.
Again, your work is excellent. These units have a touch of realism far beyond anything vanilla put out. Keep up the brilliant work, and can't wait to see the FK preview.
Cheers!
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

Thanks for that, Overlord. I think the only question I would have remaining is how do you know which units correspond to the ones Frenchy has posted files for, since the names are different? Like how would I find out which lines I have to rename or replace for Levy Archers for example.

In the models.db you want to look for peasant_archers
EARLY preview of Feudal Knights...
There's still a lot of work to be done on the surcoats/helmets, still need to add shields, but at least you guys can get a sense of how they're going

Hmm.. I fail to see how they would put those full chains on if it's enclosed all the way to the toe
wouldn't reinforced leather / boots be more appropriate?
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....
ahhh ic, but the bayuex tapestry seem to depict them with shoes on though, but then your norman knights have strapping /boots so that's correct I guess

You can add some short/skinny shoes for the Knight's Infantry...as leather
And make a mix with other protections such various broignes.
For all period to the 1300/1350's years, you can give to the sergeants the kind of small peasant hat. Its pretty accurate by the way.
These hats can be renforced as the broigne, with metallic rings.
Impressive work, I appreciate, the most sincerely!
Just take care with this source..."1175-c.1220", the 5th knight is clearly more early. Somewhat as the 1100's years.
The SicilianVespers's Early Sergeants are very good in this kind...from my point of view. You have the skills and the material to get the perfect knight
Servientes (Upgrade 1)
Thanks to Rusichi for the primary materials.

Iv got to say... I am exceptionally impressed. Great job bro.
I certainly hope that these models will be included in future versions of SS. I will definitely be adding them to my personal SS mod.
