    Default Disk shredder

    Hey,

    Anyone know of any decent disk shredder s/w? I have 2 old drives, one is dying but is still readable, and the other is a borrowed drive that needs to be returned.

    I want to clean these up before throwing away and returning them respectively. For the one to throw away I really want to get it formatted to the point that it isn't recoverable (the other I'll just format). Call me paranoid

    Anyway, anyone know of any decent free or cheap packages to clean disks fully? And I admit to being lazy, I haven't actually looked for any yet

    What you want is a low level format tool like this free one. For the one you are throwing away, get a sledgehammer. Its more fun than just writing a bunch of zeros.

    couple of strong magnets is also a nice way, less effort=more play time

    ccleaner also has a built in Drive wiper with DOD, NSA + Gutmann all 100% free and reliable!
