When I try to start the campaign, I get booted back to the single player menu, where choosing any option causes an unspecified error. I have the 1.4.4 English Translation installed. Can anyone help?

I just Went back to the Medieval main folder and clicked properties---Security and then winged off Full control and modify under "users (Name)"
Did the trick for me![]()

I've got the same exact issue here.
Installed 1.4.2 full english + music, then 1.4.3 then translation for 1.4.3, then 1.4.4, removed the "base" folder from world/maps as it was stated and added 1.4.4 translation (the .rar file is already properly built and places all files in the right folder).
Could anybody let us know how to fix this (the 2nd post doesn't make sense to me, if i remove "total control" and "modify" i can't even launch COW cuz i don't have authorizations ?) ?
Thx in advance.

Thought this version was standalone :
FULL ENGLISH ver. Call of Warhammer: Total War" МOD v. 1.4.2 with music!!!
as the instructions say :
Installing.
1. The Mod is installed over M2TW Kingdoms version 1.5
2. Unzip the archive with the Mod, launch the installer (file with extention EXE) and install the Mode into the folder Medieval II Total War\mods\
3. Get sure that there has appeared a new folder Call_of_Warhammer in the folder mods!!! If it is not there, search for it in the folder \Program Files, maybe the path of installment was given in a wrong way. When you find it, drag the folder Call_of_Warhammer int your folder Medieval II Total War\mods\ . In this case you will also need to edit the path in the tag into correcnt one.
5. The mod is started by the shortcut on the desktop, or by the file \mods\Call_of_Warhammer\warhammer.bat
6. Play.

As it works perfectly as well when installing on its own (just tried, can start a campaign perfectly). Trying with 1.4.3 on top of this one to see if issue comes from this or from 1.4.4 only.
Hm i think it comes from my 1.4.3 patch, as somehow i DL it from torrent (it was called 1_4_3_kumul.exe) it weighter 800 ish megs while the one on totalwar.ru weights 148 mb.
Gonna try it and post you with the updates

Well tried with the normal 1.4.3 patch and the problem appears here, can't start campaign
I tried before btw with my regular 1.4, 1.4.1, 1.4.2 which worked well and still no go when i install 1.4.3
Is there a compatibility problem between the 1.4.2 full english and the non-kumul 1.4.3 ? They all come from the same page (totalwar.ru) but it breaks the game for me![]()

Yes but the english version is an all-in-one package, i think they released it lately, it's a full 1.4.2 install including all translations, i installed it on a clean medieval total war 2 kingdoms.
The 1.4.3 works but not for campaign (i tried a battle it works well).
Then install 1.4.3 English patch, But I would upgrade to 1.4.4 and then install 1.4.4 English Patch
"When In doubt? Belive the person with the bloodier weapon!"
"When you need to shoot. Shoot, don't talk!" Tuco
I tried that, it doesn't work either.
Strange thing is that i installed 1.4 then 1.4.4 kumul and i got the same problem.
Maybe it's related to steam ? I don't know.
I'll try 1.4 / 1.4.1 / 1.4.2 / 1.4.3 / 1.4.4 and then english patch and see...
Ah, never mentioned steam, go to my torrent thread. Follow the link to steam fixes. It is in the spoiler at bottom of first post.

i though the 1.4.3 was a stand alone with 1.4.0? why would they need 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 red dwarf?
No its not a stand alone. If it was stand alone, you would see 1.5{Meaning new edition when changing second number. Third number is patch addition.}
If you mean with kumul patches? yes you can jump the patches in between. But its still a patch.{Kumul is a cumulus patch, meaning its has all the files of patches that came before it.}
"When In doubt? Belive the person with the bloodier weapon!"
"When you need to shoot. Shoot, don't talk!" Tuco
Tried that again and it doesn't work, whenever i click on "Start campaign" i go back to single player menu...
Edit : The steam fixes seem to be only to enable people to launch the mod from the MTWII launcher, i already created a registry editing file that allowed me to have the option, my game works perfectly with 1.4.2, but doesn't work with 1.4.3+ (at least the single player campaign).
There must be some other reason somewhere as to why when u click on "start campaign" it kicks u back to "single player" menu...

Thats strat bounce back. Let me see if I still have 1.4.3 vanilla file still.

I thought it might have something to do with the strat file... I've followed the install instructions, applied the patch last, and used the Steam mod installer to add the entry to my launcher to play it. I can play custom game fine, I just can't launch the campaign.
