The fog of war adds a whole new spin on the battlefield. There is nothing more satisfying than hiding most of your units behind the crest of a hill with a lonesome artillery in full view. Then when your opponent strikes these hapless units, you unleash hell.
The realism is also bar none as unicorns and howitzers are not as powerful as in vanilla and cannon become much more of a factor. Musket fire also is more realistic. The farther away you are the less accurate your men are, and the closer they get the more deadlier their volleys become. I love forming columns and bringing them up close to the enemy and forming lines to unleash with devistating effect (mindful of course of any artillery nearby). Cavalry is also a feature that has been improved upon. Instead of charging endlessly into enemy lines, a general must now choose the exact time to unleash his cav as they are only good for one or two charges before becoming tired.
This mod is only in its beta/infancy and I've heard talk of added features in the multiplayer experience and single player so stay tuned.
Again please get this mod as I don't think you'll regret it. The fine folks at The Lordz have done a marvelous job with this mod and are very open to suggestions for future installments.
