Try the NTW3 mod. Note I am not affiliated with this mod, but I absolutely love this mod. Some highlights includes 20 additional maps, 18 playable factions, and most importantly fog of war. The fog of war adds a whole new spin on the battlefield. There is nothing more satisfying than hiding most of your units behind the crest of a hill with a lonesome artillery in full view. Then when your opponent strikes these hapless units, you unleash hell.

The realism is also bar none as unicorns and howitzers are not as powerful as in vanilla and cannon become much more of a factor. Musket fire also is more realistic. The farther away you are the less accurate your men are, and the closer they get the more deadlier their volleys become. I love forming columns and bringing them up close to the enemy and forming lines to unleash with devistating effect (mindful of course of any artillery nearby). Cavalry is also a feature that has been improved upon. Instead of charging endlessly into enemy lines, a general must now choose the exact time to unleash his cav as they are only good for one or two charges before becoming tired.

This mod is only in its beta/infancy and I've heard talk of added features in the multiplayer experience and single player so stay tuned.

Again please get this mod as I don't think you'll regret it. The fine folks at The Lordz have done a marvelous job with this mod and are very open to suggestions for future installments.

Yea I have the mod also although it defeats its purpose due to the fact I see rarely anyone hosting matches for it. D:

I agree fuzzy, that there aren't that many hosting matches, but joining the Lordz steam group and teamspeak helps me organize a game. Typically I am able to play within 15 minutes or so. Some have made the mistake of seeing games while still in vanilla, as one can only see NTW3 games while in the mod.

This being said, I think if gamers play this mod, they will see that it truely is something that is worthwhile and hopefully more matches will be played.

Fuzzy would you agree though that once you find a game, do you find it 20x better than the vanilla version?

i you have a mod manager try launching it with that perhaps?

also if your running a 64bit version of windows make sure it goes in the right program file (x86)

    also

just do into your data file and check there are files that start with NTW3 in there.

sorry if you have already done this just trying to help NTW3 is worth it
