    Default Unexpected Error Crash again

    Once again I've got the 'Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.' CTD, I've re-installed SS about 5 times now and i keep getting it. This time its turn 30 as England and it crashes on the French turn.

    I've disabled UAC, made sure it runs as administrator and all that.

    I'm running it on Windows 7 on Kingdoms version 1.5 and using SS v6.4, as for sub-mods I've got the SSNOP, SSHCP (faction names and titles, and, regions and provinces), FabianScarus' Names for Rebel Factions, Warman's Death Animations mod, and the UI OverHaul. I've also removed the Ageing Script in campaign_script and changed the TPY to 0.5 for better ageing and more time.

    I think thats all the information required, I'll attach the system.log at the bottom.

    Thanks for any help, it's the best mod for M2:TW.

    man_utdmasta,

    Firstly welcome to SS forum,sorry to hear of this problem.

    Sadly the System Log was not helpful, is this from MTW2 or SS6.3/6.4?

    Now I have checked on three these sub mods, they appear to be compatible, although I take it that you checked they are were?

    I would suggest you install 6.3/6.4 outside of program files, create a folder call it whatever and install 6.3/6.4 to that folder, keep that UAC disabled. Then install your sub mods to that folder. This will all be fine as providing MTW2 & SS are on same drive, there should be no problems.

    I would also suggest doublechecking that these sub mods are all compatible, I checked Rebel Factions, Warmans & SSNOP, they appear to be 6.4 friendly

    Thanks for the lightning fast reply, after posting I attempted to reload the save, all was well for about 8 turns and then the same thing happened again but on the turn of the Seljuk Empire. I'm guessing the solution is still the same as before.
    I did check that they were all compatible, and as far as i could see yes they were.

    I'm getting the same error, also as England, only a bit later in the game. Mine crashes too during the AI's turns.

    Perhaps we're afflicted by the same issue?

    I'm reinstalling it to C:\SS\ to see if there is any change.

    Edit: Didn't work

    man_utdmasta,

    I am going to get someone else to take a look at this, me thinks its something to do with your extra sub mods and the changes you made

    I do too.
    I think I'll replace the files i backed up before the mods, but I really want to know which mods are compatible with one another
    Thanks for the help to Navajo Joe.

    My first feeling is that SSNOP and rebel names aren't compatible. I think they both change the same files.

    edit: Scratch that. They should work fine together.

    edit2: Ok it's SSHCP and rebel factions that wont be compatible together. Or at least they'd overwrite each other but not sure if that would cause a crash

    man_utdasta, what campaign are you running, early or late?

    Have you got error and trace enabled on your system log? If not, can you do so by removing the ; from these lines in the default.cfg file in SS6.3

    Code:
    [log]
    to=mods/SS6.3/system.log.txt
    ;level=* error
    ;level=* trace
    Then get the crash to happen again and post the resulting log here (you may have to zip it up first).

    originally it was this:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    [log]
    to=../../../SS/SS6.3/system.log.txt
    level=* error
    ;level=* trace

    changed it to:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    [log]
    to=../../../SS/SS6.3/system.log.txt
    level=* error
    level=* trace

    here is the system.log

    re-installed and started again with only the edited ageing script and SSHCP faction names and titles, so far so good, but I am only on turn 19

    You can mark this as solved. I'm on turn 54 and there is no problem so far, touch wood. I think it was a matter of incompatible sub-mods
