Cyanide, the accla...er, makers of Blood Bowl, are developing two official ASoIaF games. The first is an RTS called Game of Thrones: Genesis (hopefully not the final title), due this summer. The second, an RPG, is due 12-18 months later.
Today they released some more information about the RTS. The game spans 1,000 years of Westeros's history, beginning with the invasion of Dorne by the Rhoynar under Nymeria and continuing through Aegon's Conquest, Robert's Rebellion and the War of the Five Kings. Apparently it will be possible to use intrigue, politics and economic warfare to defeat your enemies as well as direct battlefield confrontations.
Sounds great. Unfortunately, the screenshots look more Battle for Middle-earth or Age of Empires III than Total War, and Cyanide's track record is pretty risible (especially their tendency towards needlessly over-complicated UIs and releasing games heavily bugged). Hopefully they can pull off something special though.
