    Default Lag?

Hi guys. I just installed rs2 mod and started roman campaign. I started a battle with Hannibal and as soon as I entered the battle I noticed lag. I was like WTF... I have Radeon HD 6870 graphics card AMD PHENOM 2 X4 955 BLACK EDITION 3.2 GHZ processor and 4 gb DDR3 1600 MHZ ram. Games like Crysis and Far Cry 2 run fine with everything on max. Medieval 2 TW works also fine... Any suggestions? I have everything maxed out running on 1280 x 1024 resolution...

To be honest you only have 2gb ram when it comes to RTW - forget about some fancy 12/8/6/4 gigas of bytes RTW simply doesn't
support them without a fix (which is using a modified exe and thus being illegal here).

Now multiplicate your maxed everything out with considering you got only 2gb's and that all those fancy new features of your gfx
counts nuts aswell for such an old game and only one core is used which means poor 3.2 ghz only and voilla ==> lagefest.

Did you get any CTD's ever yet?

I think you're the first one i've seen playing RSII with such settings.
Ok usually people don't come to forums to complain about being able
to play in full scale/detail so this could be a reason that you're the first
    one i've seen yet.

I play RSII on a system with a pair of GTX295s at 2560x1600 - I don't use the high-res vegetation or the bloom effect but with everything else maxed out and the game runs fine with no lag.

As for CTDs - some campiagns were abandoned using the initial public release a long way into them. My Carthage campaign was halted by a CTD in the winter of 570AUC (Rome was almost dead anyway):

I did use the fix that has already been mentioned. It made my system very stable again:

U need to test ur settings.

    I've turned off the following:
    - antialiasing
    - smoke
    - banners (yes, huge performance eater)
    - shadows

I run 1900x1200 resolutoin with huge units. Most other are quite maxed out, but not all. Test out what ur system can handle. Great PC won't help u.

Try keeping the gamesgraphics settings no more than High, and keeping the unit scales at Large. Highest settings on things like vegetation will murder you since its only running on one core and your nice system isnt allowed to run at its best like with newer game.
