Default THAT guy deserved the Coward Trait

OK, so I'm in one of my favorite parts of the Roman campaign - the struggle over Hispania vs. The Gallaci and the Carthaginians. Loads of enemies, stacks upon stacks. I have 5 legions in the invasion, with an army of Greeks (Athenians, Corinthians etc.) enroute to join the fun.

I'm in a furball with the Carthaginians, and even before the battle is 1/3 decided, the enemy general (a four star one @ that) turns tail and runs....leaving his whole army to get slaughtered.

Yet, he doesn't earn the coward trait. I sent a spy to find out, and he didn't. That one deserves a "shameful coward" trait with a huge penalty.

Not sure if it would work with the scripts or not, but it was pretty shocking. I almost felt sorry for his men. Almost...

I haven't yet seen a single unit of an army leaving the battlefield seperately - are you sure about that?

The only chance of having an event to look like this would be: the whole army decides to leave the battlefield
exactly that moment you engaged them and the only enemy unit you didn't engage was their general.

No, the battle lines were in contact, the enemy general was some ways back (where he should be), then he and 2 or 3 other units turned about and legged it.

That means he knew there was little chance of victory and withdrew. The AI does that sometimes in a battle but usually it tries to withdraw all of its units, other than ones engaged in combat.

You didn't mention before those other units leaving the field aswell however it's the
same scenario i described - everything that isn't engaged that moment when the
whole army wants to retreat will do so - those who are engaged will sure not turn
their backs at you but once you release them they would.

Also it can happen with a reinforcing army arriving at the battlefield and just when
they're all there they decide to turn around to have a cup of tea or so. They even
do that when they are marked with a fight to death sign at the pre-battle screen
which basically means they don't exist anymore once the battle is over.

That way stupid ai has stolen me a lot of heroic victories and the post-battle speech
was something along: you've won even if it was only a close victory - or so.

:edit - ISA Gunner beat me to it but only because i had much more to say - hehe

It happens all the time for me, I guess my 3gold chevroned all elite army with a reborn Alexander the Great is too much for them
