why i dont play siege battles

there are several problems with siege battles, first if the AI has catapults or archers they will wait until every projectile unit has ran out of ammo before doing anything and god forbid them having mages....your going to be sitting there for 3 days until they assault the walls.

the second problem is the insane lag after the 5 minute mark, when the battle starts everything runs smoothly, the cannons are going off troops are marching/fighting but after a while the game starts to lag so much that i would only get 2 frames per second.

this is why i have decided to determine siege battle games with dice rolls if i get 4+ i get an auto_win and if i get 4 or lower i will auto resolve.
if anyone is having the same problem and knows how to fix it please help me out here. thank you

Also Eidius old chap, you could just increase the speed of the battle? I find myself x2 or even x6'ing through a siege to get to the action.

lol idk if i mentioned this but lowering graphics does absolutely nothing and speeding anything up past 2 lags the game even harder. im going to start new campaigns with small unit count, maybe that will help with the frame rate crisis also i did not have this problem until i installed the 1.4.2

This is the proverbial rock and hard place. The reason why A.I. stays back at start is because no battle time limit. It knows it has all the time in the world. However, turning this down makes the A.I. nuts (it does not manage time well). I only lag bad against goblins. It's unit size, I am pretty sure, since they have the biggest armies.

Have some cavalry attacking the catapults , cannons.
They often leave them vulnerable to a charge.
this makes the ai go on full attack on most occasions
