uphill battles 4EVER

How come I always face an uphill battle.

Every campagin encounters a fair amount of those but I seem to get them all the time. It would make a bit of sense if I faced an experienced general who placed his troops on a good defensive position. But even if I'm on the defence my choices are limited to a position at the foot of a hill looking up.

9 in 10 times. Perhaps even 19 in 20 battles I get this disadvantage. It's just not realistic.

Try look closely at the shapes of campaign map before starting battle and try to position your army on top of hills if possible. If I remember right, battle maps are not entirely random, but correlate pretty much with shapes of campaign map. Uphill in campaign map means uphill in battle map.

EDIT: Also I have seen mod which makes battle maps more flat, but I think that was for original M2TW:K Crusades campaign in which battles were often unplayable because they had huge hills and cliffs all over the place. It could work with TATW too, if you are able to find it.

True, you can predict the battle map by looking at the campaign map. Not 100% accurate but good enough.

I get this too, seems like 85% of my battles the game starts me facing an enemy uphill.
