About half the time when I hide light infantry and rifles/grenzers and similar units with the hide in woodland skills in the woods, no matter how thick they are, they don't seem hidden at all (they have no hidden icon). Is the skill bugged, or is there some requisite for going into hiding that I don't know about?

    How does hiding work exactly?

    what counytry are you?

ity works fine but not all lights can hide (or maybe aren't as good at hiding).

i always go Britian andthe rifles can hide no probs, i;m sure the Prussian lights can't hide, but could be wrong

Could be due to enemy units, enemy light infantry and Hussars have bonuses that allow them to detect your hidden units, could just be that the terrain is trolling you as well.

I dislike light infantry. They break easily and they kill very few men. Yes, they may kill officers that demoralise the enemy, but when the enemy are France? It doesn't really change anything. I'm playing as Austria who possibly have the best light infantry in the game, so I'm slowly getting used to it.

More to the point, I've never experienced this. Are the infantry in skirmisher mode, maybe?

IMO Prussia has the best light infantry by a long shot. Prussians Fusiliers are awesome, and they rack up huge numbers of kills in my battles ... much more than my line infantry. By comparison, Austrian Grenzers are rather weak, with much lower accuracy.

They're not in skirmishing mode. I kinda like light infantry because they can hold the center of the enemy line or one of the flanks for a handful of seconds before having to withdraw behind my lines, this normally breaks the enemy formation and allows me to destroy one wing before the center gets in contact with my line, allowing me to envelope the enemy. The problem is that if they're not hidden, the enemy cavalry will hiome on them like a missile, and will force them to withdraw before they've been useful.
