When I was playing the Seleucid Empire I was at war with the Egyptians, Pontus, Armenians, Greeks, Parthians and all of them drove me almost out of present Turkey. My last settlement that managed to survive for more than a century was Halicarnassus. Then I started building an army by 130 B.C then started the counterattacks against the Greeks and Pontus and managed to defeat all of them losing only about 10K+ soldiers and them losing 6 settlements and about 50K+ soldiers(most of them died bec. of their refusal to surrender their settlements, only 20K have died in the battlefield). Of course at that time they were fighting amongst themselves and that is how I defeated 2 of my 5 enemies. Currently I am starting to invade the lands I lost to the Egyptians and also, I am about to enter the mountain ranges where the Armenians are hiding. Its time to slaughter!

my current campaign as Egypt, im slowly plowing my way through Asia Minor while holding a shield against the Parthians in the East, and slowly but surely creeping towards dominance in the west, its been an awesome campaign and can not wait to face some of those "superior" Romans

I remember a great campaign as the Julii I had. The Brutii had conquered most of thracia and dacia. The Scipii were eliminated by me. I held all of Northern Europe and Spain. Along with all of africa, all the way over to the three main egyptian cities (alexandria, t-something and something else). Also held territory on the ocean (palmyra, rhodes, kydonia, syracuse, lilybaeuem) Lots of cash and even more legionnaires. Great campaign, except many of my family members sucked.

My greatest campaign would be when I was the Brutii. I owned South Italy where they start, Greece, Macedon, Thracia, Asia Minor, Egypt, Crete, Rhodes and Cypruss. It was fun. When I stopped playing I was ready to stop the Pontics and Greeks and invade Selucia from the south.

I just played a great short campaign with the Seleucids. I got attacked by all the surrounding factions except Greece. I was really struggling to raise enough money and time to train a big enough army to go against Egypt's maneating chariots and at the same time try to avoid war with greece, defend my settlements from rebels, pontus, parthians and armenians and get enough population in my cities (Those phalangites should start to pay taxes). I tried to make alliances but no one would be my friend , except Chartage, who really didn't have many friends either . What was really weird about this campaign was that I never saw the Romans at all.

One of my familymembers starting in Sardis, Alexander, took the role as guerilla hero. I really learned to appreciate Militia Hoplites combined with Shrine to Hephaistos during this campaign. Alexander first tried to take Halicarnessus with three militia hoplites and two mercenaries (archers and slingers), but couldn't make it and fled to the boats lying by the coast. He then sailed upwards with the remains of his army and besieged Byzantium. After a two year siege and recruiting of one unit of thracian mercenaries he took the settlement by force and started constructing military buildings and retraining his militia hoplites. It was impossible to raise a large enough army as the population level was about 510 after the retraining and some recruiting. Then I decided he had to sail across the sea to take Nicomedia and maybe some slaves to boost the population level of Byzantium. He captured the settlement quite easy, but was forced to go back and protect Byzantium as the Macedonians brought in a big army of militia hoplites and macedonian lancers. At the same time Pontus sieged Sardis.

Attacking the Macedonians numerically superior army seemed difficult, but thanks to a good right-flanking-manouver with my Thracian mercs and my general while the militia hoplites held the enemy phalanxes busy, Alexander managed to drive away the enemy's left cavalry and the thracian mercs attacked the macedonian phalanxes in the rear with a great flee-effect (Remember to bring generals to battle next time mofos!). The effect was good and I used my then two unbusy phalanx units to take out the macedonian's right cavalry, but as I did this my general made a plan of his own, he charged directly into a macedonian phalanx (That's almost drive the peltasts away isn't it?). The result was death, but at least I had my victory. Luckily for my empire the newly wed husband of Helike took charge of what was left of Alexander's army and continued the struggle/fund raiser. The new commander constantly sailed between Byzantium and Nicomedia to fend of attacks from either Macedonia or Pontus, and at one time the two ship units transporting him got attacked by a pontic navy and I was sure my guerilla campaign was snuffing it, but the boats made it through, but to no use as Pontus wasn't taking drowning sailors as an answer and had a diplomat to bribe my settlement of Nicomedia. The citizens of Nicomedia supposedly said to my empire: So long and thanks for all the fish. This turned out to be quite a lucky brake for me as a greek army two turns later marched on that settlement (I didn't want to lose my only trade-partner).

My other campaigns were going pretty well though. Even if there were some setbacks against Parthia (Damn those pink cowardly gay horse archers), but I managed after over ten losses to their faction leader to drive them out of the lower parts of my empire and chased them all the way to Arsakia.

One of my young family members drove the Armenians back to Kotais with an army only consisting of militia hoplites and eastern mercenaries, he probably battled them four times and was forced to retreat to retrain his army due to large losses. This army and the Parthian conquest-army later met at a joint siege of Hatra. During a large field battle in the siege of Hatra my two armies lost the battle, but managed to kill both the faction heir and the king. They then retrained their troops in Seleucia and went to take the rebel settlement. They finally secured the upper parts of my empire and I could now focus on defeating the Egyptians and get revenge on Pontus.

Scout reports on the border to the Macedonian kingdom showed a (due to the circumstances) unbeatable army of phalangites and cavalry coming for Byzantium and I took my guerilla-general and army and fled the town only leaving 60 merc peltast behind. While laying at sea, my boats spotted a large thracian army also heading for Byzantium. I saw this as a great opportunity and I ordered Helike's husband to sail his army to Campus Gatae and take the settlement before the thracians could respond with their big army. It was successful and before the thracians sent their kick-ass army to take the settlement back he retrained his militia hoplites and sailed to the rebel settlement of Chersonesos. There he found enough mercenaries and training opportunity to continue the war with the Thracians and he came back to Campus Gatae and took it back, killing the Thracian King and pissing off their allies the Dacians in the motion.

My own faction leader had during all this time fought the Egyptians all the way down to Jerusalem, but he was getting rahter old and he took a short brake from the war to give his retinue to a young family member destined to take over his army in a few turns, right after giving away his retinue to the younger general he took a dirt-nap in the desert. From there on I had the empire and enough loot from the Guerilla Heroes Alexander and Helike's husband (Can't remember his name as it was something like HALAJARHEHLKAHR of HALEHEAKHARKEHRK) campaign to lean back and watch the Pontic and Egyptian empires crumble under my mighty generals and their cheap-ass über equiped and battle-hardened militia hoplites backed up by phalanx eating militia cavalry.

Long story short: Hephaistos is now my new God.

Have them in the same town, army, ship or fort and just drag them from their current general to the other general's portrait.

It's a bit out of topic... but repman, I think I have meet you in other forum. Are you an ex legionnaire? (The legionnaire here is not the Rome legion, but French Foreign Legion.)

After reading Ghoulem's story I felt that I had to elaborate on my great campaign. I'm playing as the Julli and hold all of Western Europe and Britannia, except for part of Spain. Also hold Africa and all the way over to Thebes, Memphis and Alexandria. The Scipii are gone and I hold every island city (Palmyra, Kydonia, Rhodes, Sicily, Caralis) The Brutii hold all of Greece and a good chunk of Thracia/Dacia. The majority of my family members suck and have few good traits, with the exception of two. Manius the Victor and his brother Marcus the Brave. Both men are young, 26 and 28 i think?, both have 4 influence and 2 management, Manius has 6 command stars and Marcus has 5. together they conquered the entire northern part of Europe (Gaul, Germania) Currently Marcus, being the weaker general of the two is headed to Spain to finish off the Spaniards while his brother Manius is headed for the rich lands of Greece, where he will have to fight the powerful Brutii for control of them. Of course the Brutii are pretty weak due to a succesful blockade of all the ports on the west side (apollonia, etc.) and in the south (Sparta, Athens, Corinth). The Southern part of my empire is secure, held by a large army holding off any Egyptian armies, who have any ideas about reconquering their lost cities. Thats all for now.
