    Default Need help

I kind of stumbled upon this mod, and just .. wow.
I reinstalled MTW II + kingdoms just for this.

Currently I'm sort of stuck with the battle of Helms Deep, which I cannot seem to win.
The biggest problem is that my allies seem to rout as soon as they make contact with the enemy force.

Help and tips would be great !

    Hello postm00v,

You need help? We as the elves have come to your aid and honor the alliance that existed between men and elves.

Sorry for that, seriously thought, I (we) need a bit more information to help you out. Are you playing the campaign or the "fellowship of the Ring" game? Which faction are you playing, are you defending or attacking etc.

For either of those first thing that pops into my mind is to change the difficulty settings.... but do not think that this is the kind of advice you need........

Oh right, I'm playing the Fellowship scenario so that means I am leading Gandalf and the Rohirrim.

On my 6th try though, I managed to win the battle by attacking head on with my heavy lancers and holding the enemy untill my allies engaged them from behind.
It was beautiful to see all those Uruk-Hai (sp?) routing and getting slaughtered.

Any tips or hints would still be great though !
I now face those guys dressed in red, not sure what the faction name is.
They engage Frodo and Faramir and have those enormous elephants.

Also Legolas is about to start the Battle under the Trees.

My allies in the Fellowship's battle for Helms Deep routed immediately too. I found the best way to play that battle was to hold back your entire army and trickle individual units in and out making surgical strikes. The bowmen exclusively target the very-long-spears Uruk Hai unit (I forget the name), because they're damn near impossible to kill with cavalry.

Keep a large reserve force away from the combat that you can pull units back to and send units in from, attack only with non-head on charges, eliminate enemy archers as soon as possible. It's hard, but it's possible.

I have another question, this time about he Grand Campaign ( is it even called like this ?).
Anyway, I recently started a campaign with the Dwarves and in my first battle my general decides to die on me.

Now my question is, can I recruit new generals eventually ?
I get a of adoption offers, but I try to keep my family tree clean of 'outsiders'.

    Thanks in advance !

    Hello postm00v,

Well, you cannot recruit generals like you would do with units.

    New generals will become available:
    a) comming of age of the childeren of your generals (indirectly by the husband, or directly in the case of sons)
    b) Man of the hour. This is when you win a battle while your army has no general in it there is a change the captain can be adopted (mostly when you do not have many generals)
    c) adoption, but you are aware of that.

If you want to keep it "clean", only option a might do the trick
