    Default My Concept for Airplanes

    I came across this idea today. And thought I could share it. It's a simple idea but I don't know if it is possible to get in game. I made a scheme with paint:


    This could also apply to carriers. Being that the cannon is the deck, the reloading animation is the plane coming to its position, the firing animation the plane taking of and the rest is the same.

    For this to happen, of course there must be proper models and a way to change animations.

    EDIT: See if you can see it this way.

    Ermmm not at all possible as your essentially asking for a projectile that splits in half, changes model and goes in different directions...

    It does not split in half, it does something similar to TGW's canister shot: it explodes (with the animation changed to the plane going up) and releases shrapnel (payload).

    Though I think I get the gist of your idea from the description. Despite my nonexistent "limted" experience with modding, It sounds like it could work.

    I can't see it (Though I think I get what you're saying) however, wouldn't just making invisible artillery work? Of course you couldn't really have an air battle, but it effectively creates the role of airplanes. Actually, Airplanes weren't really used very much other then recon during WW1 were they?

    The problem is that the only way to create a new projectile from an old one is by making the old projectile explode. It's very possible (through animation editing) to make the plane arrive properly, even with a neat-looking approach, but the aircraft would disappear after dropping the bomb.

    maybe you could make it explode after it drops the payload, so it looks like it just got destroyed?

    The lord of the rings total war mod for RTW had nazgul flying around on their big ugly winged dinosaurs. All you have to do is make the idle animation the plane spinning around and the attack animation the plane charging the enemy and an MG sound when they do attack.

    Finally . As Aanker stated, it would work, but for the plane to release the payload it would have to disappear.

    Im still not entirelly likely the rubbish we would ge tfor having airplanes fired out of guns... (especially by the ai into hillsides)

    LOL . Well, the idea was that the plane would be fired by some sort of object in the air, if you can change from where the projectiles are fired, you could have the observers "firing" the planes from high above their heads. But once again, if it's possible.

    The only real problem is that the aircraft (and the poor lads inside it) would be blown up in mid-air every time it was to drop its payload. Quite effectful a few times, perhaps, but eventually it would seem a bit odd if every bombing run failed rather explosively.

    Couldn't the explosion effect be replaced by one that resembles a plane flying away?

    or REALLY limited ammo(planes)(like maybe 3) but REALLY powerfull?
