    Default Speeds of Certain Operating Systems

    Hey i was just wondering, does vista take up more resources than xp for win7? I been having these weird discrepancies between the recommended system requirements are and how certain games actually run on my computer which never happened on my old computer with xp, but are now happening with vista. Like I pass the recommended system requirements and than the game runs like a slide show. Maybe thats a slight exaggeration but not by much. Anyone have experience with this?

    XP is almost as low profile as linux in comparison to th resource hogs Vista and 7 are

    Which games? From XP to Vista or 7 on Total War games, immediately add 25% to 50% of recommened CA specs for RTW and Medieval2. Empire and Napoleon specs are already quoted this way.

    One can always turn off the extra visual crap like windows visual theme etc in Win7\Vista so it will become pretty much like XP.

    Use GameBooster etc when playing games etc to free RAM by closing unnecessary programs during gaming.

    Win 7 seems very fast to me - XP's a snail in comparison.

    ^ hmmm should of asked this before. whats your stats? and whats your ram usage when your computer is idle? as from memory most of vista's problems stemmed from there "improved ram management and security."

    Windows 7 can be made to use VERY little resources. Not as well as some lightweight linux distros, but Microsoft really did something right with 7.
