    Default Glitches, etc.

I've noticed two problems that have made attacking enemy walls suicidal.

    1. Swordsmen have immense difficulty killing enemy infantry due to a glitch. I've seen Ahdath Infantry get slashed dozens of times by swords and yet sustain no damage at all. This helps them consistently annihilate any Outremer Swordsmen who attack them on the walls with very few losses.

    2. Towers can shoot at any enemies on the walls. This makes scaling the walls certain death, as the attackers will be mowed down in short order.

Anyone else notice this? It's infuriating seeing my swordsmen massacred by some of the weakest units in the game.

I´ve decided to demolish any walls beneath enemies´ feet and laugh demonically once the poor fellas make their way down. Saves a lot of work, men and nerves.
If you have to use siege equipment, towers will do the trick.

I tend to do that as well, but ladders are critical for my tactics, as I like to stretch the enemy lines to the breaking point by swiftly moving ladders to surround the walls.

I find the towers to be of minimal consequence in most situations actually. If you fight a prolonged melee on a section of wall, over time you will take some significant casualties from the arrows (or vice versa if they are your walls) but that's realistic enough for me. The towers if anything should be upgraded against siege machines -- in my time playing I have only seen them light a ram on fire ONCE. And never a siege tower, though I have rarely fought with/against ballista towers.

Outremer swordsmen are actually extremely weak. I'm not sure your efforts are entirely due to this bug, they are not good troops in any situation... I can't even use them to fill lines on the battlefield. They are not even worth recruiting unless you simply have no other men to put in the field. Your experience might be compounded by the bug you speak of (or maybe they always have this bug and that's why they are so bad).

Yep. Swordsmen frequently slash unarmored enemies dozens of times but inflict no damage. Outremer Swordsmen are actually decent units, and there's no way they should be losing to lowly Ahdaths.

Its because of the "attack animations", the way that the "skeletons"(The underlying model of the unit which is manipulated by the game mechanics, sorta like a puppet), are inefficient. Try sending swordsmen against macemen, doesnt matter if the maces have armor piercing or not, they will always win. this is because the mechanics of the macemen attack animation are more effective, they have a larger hit box or something similar, which means their blows hit home more often than the swordsmen do.

To my knowledge, the reason why it is like this in the game was for balancing reasons. The BC team thought that swordsmen should be more effective versus lightly armoured troops, and rightly so. however, i think they made it a blanket attack animation which effected all swordsmen regardless of how "elite" they are supposed to be in the game.(Correct me if any of this is wrong, but i read elsewhere in the bc forums that this is the case)

Hopefully this bug will be rectified in 3.0, but im not an expert in the animations and skeletons in this game, i do not know if there is anyway to create multiple animations which can be customized for certain units, such as keeping the current animation for the outremar swordsmen(lets face it, they suck) but creating a new, knight class sword attack animation for elite units such as the Emir's jihad ghulams or dismounted hospitaller brothers.
