Would like some advice to improve my playing abilities!

Hello,

I would like to get some advice for some things..

1) Changing capital - What makes changing a capital more benefitial, more so then the one you got. What do I need to pay attention to-to make it better.

2) What is the best strategie - Build roads then markets first, or build farms first.

3) How do I decrease Squalors in city's and castles.

4) Does free upkeep units only apply to city's that can train that specific unit?

5) Important one - Quite often my units don't do what I want, for instance I want the archers to shoot the archers in the back, but they just ignore my order and keep shooting the targets they were shooting at before, quite often resulting in massive friendly fire casualties.

This also happends when I got a more then one stack of cavalry, some of them charge the target, and some of them go awol and charge some other stack.. Is this behavriour from TA TW or perhaps a AI mod I installed to increase performance..

6) Is there a mod that increases performance that works with TA, even with my high end pc it quite often gets very low FPS =( ( 4ghz i7, 6gig ram, dual 5870's )

7) I've seen screenshots of people with 2k vs 4k. My longest game so far is close if not over 150 turns, but I have never seen anything like that before, usualy it is 500-1000 vs 2000-3000 orcs max, is this some kind of mod aswell ?

1) Capital in the middel of your empire reduces corruption = more money

2) I usually build roads -> markets -> farms

3) High chivalry governor should help

4) I think yes, but not sure

5) Happens when you select multiple units and give them orders. Just give them orders one by one, maybe even with pause on.

6) Lower the graphics?

7) You can change it in the game options in the main menu, but you need to start a new campaign to benefit from this.

This normally works. But not always. It also depends how much income your cities are generating. Well, lets say if all the cities have the same income, the middle one is best. But, take Harad for instance, if your main income generating cities are near the coast, it might be best to center your capital more near thos settlements.

If, in any doubt, open first the browser that allows you to change that city to your capital. (This will be "open" on the left side of your screen.) But do not chnage it yet, first open the finance scroll, (This will be open on your right site of the screen.), now change the capital.

The reason is that the finance scroll will change based on the selection, and by repeting this proces you can select the best settlement for your capital. (money wise

)

Thanks for the advice, lowering graphics is something I have done, but it makes no difference, from what I learned the games bottleneck is my cpu, which of course is odd since even single core of 4ghz where not around that time. What FPS do you guys get on average then? Perhaps I am just spoiled.... ( I am playing on 1920x1080 + max settings accept shadows )

wow you got a better system then i got but i dont have any lag untill i got 20.000 men on the field, maybe re-install your pc?

Sadly a lesser pc can sometimes be better, my pc is quite clean and crispy, keep it clean every day. My

order:

Just now I did a game with roads and markets first, I think it does yield more money and generates enough money to upgrade farms twice! Though, Gondor does have easier money making imo, two cities that can build mines..

If the population is small you should always build farms first! If the settlement has no roads you should build one after the farms are finished. I only build grain exchange/market if i can spare some money or the settlement has 4000+ population.

My order:

Depends on the level of how many you can have in upkeep, but you need to have a specific building, for example, if you do not have a townwatch, nothing will be having a free upkeep, build one and then a few of the millitia units are free.

Do peeps play this game together online? I wanted to try it out but I saw you need gamespy, and for some reason I have a hateful spite against it heh...

If any mod or someone with the mod's knowledge could tell me something, does the mod give stacks of units to the NPC factions? For instance, I attacked a few times and suddently with a small green stack BOOM full stack and obliderated me, same happend to two of the invasions, spawned full stacks on it!

NPC? non player controled? Yep, the mod will give stacks to the AI and there is also a garronson script for certain settlements of the AI.

you could try to install the latest driver for you graphic-card

Mwa I am pretty sure it is my CPU, because lowering settings graphic wise makes zero difference, 16 FSAA and 8 AA or not lol, 1920 or 800x600..

Kinda annoying to assault something then get whiped out in the process =( I mean, it ain't like I can get a full stack when 4 units attack my settlements!

Make sure your sound drivers are up to date. A lot of people forget about these and they can really slow down your pc while playing games.

Yes this can be pretty annoying, especially if like me you aren't the best player, hate attacking and are much better at smaller battles (would have thought this was everyone but i chucked it in anyway

). In the FAQ or somewhere like it there are instructions on how to take out the garrision script but ive left mine in so far as I don't want to mess up my tatw and I've been able to more then hold my own in my campaigns to date so i figure it balances everything pretty well.
