Default Mod messed up my save

I looked at the forum and found many topics saying the same thing. Most of them say to just reinstall the game. I did.

I reinstalled first Rome: Total War, than Barbarian Invasion. Rome Total War uninstalled successfully, but Barbarian Invasion didn't do uninstall. So I deleted some keys in the registry, to make the installer think BI was not installed, and I reinstalled. Applied the pacthes (first the 1.3 patch, the 1.5 and 1.6 (I know 1.6 is the same as 1.5 plus extras for BI, but I wanted to do it exactly the same as I did before)). I try'd the saves again. No success.

Second try, I uninstalled RTW and BI (same problem, same way solved) and this time deleted everything I could find of RTW and BI. Than I did the same as in try 1 with the patches. Still no success.

I made a big mistake by appliying multiple mods at the same time. I know that was wrong, but I just wanted to play. These are the patches I added:

    - Skymod 1.3 Final - manual, made backups
    - Rome - Total Realism 6.2 Music Addon - Without Realism Mod, but should work without it too. All this one did was add some new music. Don't you get boring of the same song every time?
    - Historic Battles v2.6 - I Think this one is the one causing the problem. But the installer won't detect it is already installed and ask for uninstall.

But why would I need to uninstall any mod? I reinstalled RTW and BI and the patches exactly as it should. Shouldn't it suppoce to work than?

Please help me, I had a perfect Campaigns with Carthage. Conquered half the world. Sick rich citys. Massive armies with only the most expensive and powerful units..

Just push the unintal button and do it the way the installer wants that is the only way to win such battles vs software do what it wants and install everything again

Thank you for your reply. I did with RTW, but BI doesnt allow me to uninstall. Also my campaign was in RTW (RomeTW.exe), without BI (so not RomeTW-BI.exe) so it should work? I did what software asked me?

Historic Battles v 2.6 are designed for vanilla rtw 1.2, so they dosent probably work with 1.5 version.

Oops. Well there's my problem, but why can't I still play after a full reinstall?

Because the format will be very differant, you used a mod that will probably change the .sav file, and for the game to recognise it you will need to install all the mods you were using before.

They are all mods, you would need to install them to use them. And yes, its the same file extension, but it will have unrecognsed data in them if you dont use the same mods as last time.

But I made the saves before I installed these mods (didnt have a single mod when I made them). And with the mods installed it doesnt work. They have no uninstall, and reinstalling RTW and BI in the, what seems to me, exact same state doesnt work.

Run a system restore and go back to the game before you installed the mods.

Safe Mode doesn't work on my PC. When I choose to go to safe mode, it works perfectly, till I have to log in, doesn't matter what I do after about 10 seconds it shuts down automaticly. Even if I logged in almost, it just shuts down right away after those 10 seconds. I already had this problem after a half year I had this PC (even after a few times formatting), and I have no idea why.. Is there another way to run a system restore? (Or if you know, how to fix that?)

To run a system restore, go to

Start>Help and Support Then search for System Restore Wizard

That will let you run a system restore hope it works mate.

'Help and Support' doesnt open. I click it but nothing happens, also since a while. 'Search', 'Run...' too.

No, you helped me alot. I'll go ask at a tech forum if there is another way to open System Restore Wizard, I'm sure there are plenty of people there who know another way, or how to fix my two PC problems. Thanks for the tip about System Restore!
