Anyone here into CNC hardware or CAM/controller software? I know there is EMC2 for Ubuntu, and there are a ton of CNC sites out there, but this is new territory for me. I will probably begin putting something together in the next month or so.

I was around CNC a little in the sheet metal business, mainly brakes, but the last time was five yeas ago.

This will be for woodworking. I am going to build a small router table for my first machine, after that I have some other plans.

Good luck with it. All the ones used were for sheet metal, 24gauge to 10 gauge.

I am thinking I will build a vacuum table first, then build a CNC router on top of it. I havent exactly decided yet. I have always wanted a vacuum table as well, much easier than clamping stuff down all the time. When I actually get started on it I will post some pics, lots of reading to do first though.
