    'Publican family values...

I will say this, there are creeps in every profession, but usually US congresspeople are held to a higher standard.

The thing that pisses me off is the hypocrisy of many of them. As far as I can tell, this guy didn't run on religious "conservative" family values, so I tip my hat to him on that, if that is the case.

    i have a theory...

conservative politicians have to work very hard to get voted in, because the majority of voters are of middle or low income belts, whereas most conservative politicians are of business or higher earning backgrounds.

one of the way conservative politicians try to endear themselves to the masses is through cultivating a kind of 'innocent fool' personality... it allows them to connect with voters who would otherwise see them as powerful and distant.

eg: george bush and his gaffs... john howard and his sports loving bloke persona...

the kind of behaviour the politician in this situation is displaying probably a misguided version of the 'class clown' type of idiocy which in other situations might actually benefit their chances at the polls... but in this case, went wide of the mark.

Well...the word 'politics' is derived from the 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'tics', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'.
For every action there is an equal and opposite government program.

Totally thought he was picking up male prostitute off Craigslist, that seemed to be the Republican thing to do.

Remember, people. Democrats have an affair with their staffers, Republicans approach undercover police in the male side of the toilets (and then claim you asked to suck his cock for money, because you were intimidated).

Its called the House of Representatives for a reason.

Some things to take away from this.

    1. He would be a great cohost for Eliot Spitzer's show on CNN.

    2. Playgirl is already caling, look at those pecs and shoulders!!

    3. At least he wasn't gay.

    4. And having sex with a boy.

    5. And didn't tgke said boy on sexcations.

    6. And he he's not proud of it.

    7. And didn't get a standing ovation on the floor of the House for doing the acts in 3, 4, 5 & 6.

As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

So.... why are creeps always elected for office again . . . because power doesn't corrupt but rather the corrupt seek power.

    Two things to think about

    1. It is not at all upsetting that a person would want to have sex. He was seeking consensual adult sex and since he is married it is likely that he wasn't getting any - so I am really not scandalized by it at all. (The Russian word for marriage and mistake -- брак (Brack) -- are the same for a reason.)

    2. So given the considerations in #1, isn't the real problem that he was too stupid to realize that a Craiglist posting is not private and would become national news in no time at all? I mean that demonstrates an obscene lack of political savvy.

    He's cheating on his wife?

Its not like he drown a girl and didn't call the cops for a day or something like that.

The issue in this case isn't about being a creep. I'm going to guess that a majority of the elected officials are cheaters sexually, but why was someone stupid enough to use Craigslist to do so elected.

Hey, he didn't drown a girl.

He wrecked his car while driving drunk and then fled the scene. The drowning was completely accidental.

Give up. Context only matters for republican snafus.

This was nothing to do with context or the like. This was a joke about Ted Kennedy and me calling the guy in the OP an idiot for using Craigslist to find someone to have an affair with. Its not a defense of republicans in the least, because, I called the guy stupid. Had I tried to say he had an unhappy marriage, or perhaps mentioned Bill Clinton as an excuse fine, but the guy is obviously an idiot if he needs to use Craigslist to find some extra tail as a house rep.

Now unless Hotspur has absolutely no sense of humor, which while not uncommon among hard core liberals, I do not think is a flaw of his, then this too would be a rather lighthearted response to the Ted Kennedy thing. Kennedy set the bar for creeps who could get reelected and the way the whole incident was handled shows how power can be abused.

So to recap, Phier, thats me, pointed out the guy wasn't a creep but an idiot, Hotspur made a rather humorous take on the Kennedy thing, pointing out correctly that he only accidentally drown the girl while committing various crimes, and then you, seemed to not follow along.

Politicians are professional liars, that's in their job description. They're also power-hungry and generally willing to step over the political corpses of others to get where they want to be. To do this requires a certain personality type.

So no surprise at all that a lot of them are :wub:s in their personal lives.

Because Driving Drunk isn't as bad as cheating on your wife. Because leaving the scene of an accident isn't as bad as cheating on your wife. Because your actions leading to the death of another human being isn't as bad as cheating on your wife. Oh wait, Bill Clinton.

Which one is worse? I can't tell through the democratic apologetics.

Either the Lion King of the Senate, the beloved Teddy Kennedy was a piece of , or Bill Clinton was...or Christopher Lee was just another guy who messed up....

Go ahead and reply to Hotspur, thanks. I was only telling him that context only matters to Phier when it's a republican snafu. I've yet to make any commentary on said incident at all. Get your crap straight.

Regarding the topic, I'd say that creeps get elected to office in some part because people who run for high elected office are more likely to be creeps.

It really inspires me to know that someone stupid enough to look for an affair on Craigslist got elected to Congress.

Makes me feel like the sky is the limit.

Isn't there a confidential service for people who want an affair? AshleyMadison I think? You'd think he'd try that instead. Unless he saw an ad on Craigslist looking for a D&D free casual encounter that just screamed SOULMATE.
